Gabby’s Husband Hammers Larry Pratt

It’s been quite some time since Larry Pratt said that legislators should be afraid of getting shot by angry constituents, but that quote came up in a Rolling Stone article this week. Mark Kelly, husband of Gabby Giffords, who was shot by a constituent, understandably takes issue with Pratt’s horrifying statement.

The comments attributed to Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America, drew a rebuke from the husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), whose promising political career was cut short by an assassination attempt 3½ years ago.

“No matter where you stand on policies that reduce gun violence, Larry Pratt’s view that our leaders should live in fear of gun violence is an affront to all responsible gun owners, Gabby and me included,” Mark Kelly said.

Giffords suffered a traumatic brain injury in a 2011 mass shooting in Tucson, Ariz., and continues to recover. She and Kelly now run a political action committee supporting gun controls.

The comments attributed to Pratt – about politicians fearing violence – are in the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine.

“You know, I’m kind of glad that’s in the back of their minds,” Pratt was quoted as telling conservative talk show host Bill Cunningham. “Hopefully they’ll behave.”

Pratt was referring to a threat reported by Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-Manhattan.)…

In his statement Tuesday, Kelly suggested that lawmakers should stop taking contributions from the Gun Owners of America.

“No candidate for office should accept the support of Larry Pratt’s organization again,” Kelly said.

Well that isn’t gonna happen. If they aren’t bothered by his many other extremist and vile statements or his association with white supremacists, they aren’t going to find a conscience now.

She’s a step behind. There’s already a PAC supporting remote gun controls. Now you don’t even have to get up off the couch to Stand Your Ground up to four miles away from wherever the threat is.

To be fair, it all spends the same. I started up the FRC (Fermily Research Council) and give all the money that comes in to gay people, single ladies, and other groups the “actual” FRC hates.

There’s a substantial number of gunzloonz* out there who like to use the fact that the Mark Kelly and Gabby Giffords STILL have teh gunz as PROOF that they’re really on the side of the overarmed and undercognizant. Nope, sorry;not really, guys.

Kelly and his wife ARE entitled to have their 2nd Amendment rights and still make fun of you morons AND I’m pretty that having some Travis Bickle wannabe shoot at me or my wife WOULD make me a bit upset to hear some asshole like Pratt** shooting off his piehole about maybe havin’ a little “open season” on her and other pols.

Fuck Pratt and every idiot that believes his bullshit.

    * Since DSM V hasn’t yet come up with a succinct label for “Paranoid LARPing shitheads who can’t go out for the mail without a gun”, gunzoon will have to do.

** I wanted to acquaint myself with Lar’s background and find out how much time he spent being a cop or serving in the armed forces. Turns out he didn’t serve in any capacity or spend time learning anything but the fact that there’s a lot of fuckin’ roobz that are pro-gunzeverwhere and anti-immigrant, anti-Spanish, French and every other language ‘ceptin’ English–which is ironic when one considers their level of fluency in speaking and writing JESUS favorite language.

Yes, because anyone with a gun and an opinion is going to stand with right-thinking people everywhere, right? No chance of shooting a congresscritter unjustifiably, right?
    Right?

And then someone publishes a story about a parent whose child is killed in a school attack, and after years of abuse from ammosexuals who insist that it was all fake, Mom flips out and starts taking Pratt’s advice: she takes down legislators who accept NRA and gun industry money, one by one.

    Story goes best-seller, movie, etc.

Now here’s the question: how many legislators would change a single thing they do as a result? My bet is zero.

I guess Pratt thinks that H. Beam Piper’s A Planet for Texans is a scientific projection of a future utopia/

  6. D. C. Sessions says

Pratt more likely sees himself as the Adolf Hitler of Norman Spinrad’s “The Iron Dream”.

Complete with the ending where nuclear MAD ends up with everyone on Earth sterile.

[riding down the beach in the last scene] Oh my God… I’m back. I’m home. All the time, it was… We finally really did it. [falls to his knees screaming] YOU MANIACS! YOU BLEW IT UP! OH, DAMN YOU! GODDAMN YOU ALL TO HELL! (camera pans to reveal the half-destroyed Statue of Liberty sticking out of the sand)

What reich wing nut jobs like Larry Pratt are too stupid to understand is that so-called “second amendment remedies” can shoot both ways.
