‘Next Elliot Rodger’ Arrested in Seattle

A man who declared himself to be the “next Elliot Rodger” and promised that he would do it even better by killing only women has been arrested in Seattle. Thankfully, in addition to being a misogynist and a sociopath, he’s also an idiot and posted his plans online.

Keshav Bhide, 23, used YouTube and Google+ to praise Rodger, saying in one message that “everything Elliot did is perfectly justified.”…

Earlier this month, anonymous threats were made to UW sororities referencing the shootings in California. Chalk outlines were also left outside some UW sororities. It is not clear if Bhide was connected to those incidents.

In his online messages, Bhide ranted against women saying he would make sure he would kill only them. Another commenter told him to “please just call an escort service,” and gave details for how he could avoid losing his life or going to jail.

Bhide responded that he would “execute the same thing” as Elliot Rodger and that he had “no option,” according to court documents. Police said he used the screen name “Foss Dark.”

Very glad they caught this guy before more people died. I have friends at UW.

How is this different for all the right-wing nutcases who constantly threaten to kill the President? They don’t get arrested, they get guest spots on Faux News.

Ranting and raving online might be the best thing he ever did in his life.

In might be the only worthwhile thing he did in his life.

Seattle must be a bit edgy. They just had a shooting incident at a local college.

Even Mabus managed to threaten and harangue for many moons before he was finally busted.

And his stuff was more visible then YouTube and Google+, and much more prolific.

Some pastors and Right wing politicos…are even more extreme in their not so veiled threats to homosexuals and and those they fear like atheists and Muslims, or indeed science in general.

So seems the authorities that be are just not up to speed on this phenomenon and in certain circumstances have neither the wit nor will to intervene.

I am sure many examples are presented to the cops everyday by concerned folk…and it could well be a matter of sheer numbers, but when tragedy happens, it seems without fail the early signs are publicly available well before the act is committed.

What separated this bozo from other ranters and ravers is certainly a cause to question…why him and not some tuppeny’ ha’penny jeebus sunbeam indicating that death for teh ghey is their privilege and right, seems a thin line exists, that line will no doubt evaporate one day due to a statistical certainty, these bunnies are not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and their followers are even lower on the food chain, and some innocent will die a needless death…guaranteed.

This one probably had no money for a lawyer.

I bet it’s because of how recent the ER horror is. If he hadn’t committed his crimes i expect no one would be paying attention. When was the last serious attempt on a presidents life?

I’m not sure he’s an idiot, because it seems these guys want notoriety more than anything else. I noticed in one recent case the news refused to say the perps name, and I think this might be a good method to cut down on glory hound copycats. “Anonymous loser goes on killing spree” is really all but law enforcement needs to know, similar to how sports channels don’t give the idiots that run on the field their 15 seconds of TV time.

Now if they’d only apply that to politics and punditry.

Oh god, no, don’t do that. I’m sure this commenter thought he was being helpful, but no, Mr. Homicidal Rage is not going to cool off just because you toss him an expendable female that he can “meet his needs” on. That’s not how it works. He needs to be disarmed, contained and treated.

Anubisprime @4: I imagine that the reason the Seattle cops found and arrested this guy is because they were looking for someone like him, after the UW sororities reported threats. Someone made anonomus threats referencing the UCSC shootings, Seattle cops are now aware (or more aware) of where to look for people like that on the internet, so they found this guy. Who knows if he was actually the one who threatened the UW sororities, but after the shooting at SPU, it’s better to catch people who might be inclined to copy-cat.

“And what about all the silly attempts?”

They’re easy to foil, you can identify them by all that leg raising and such.

Glad to hear he was prevented from doing something horrible. Seems dumb to post online your plans if you actually have intent to commit an act like that. Hopefully the people who are unstable/stupid enough to actually want to do it in the first place are not smart enough to learn from this and keep their mouths shut until they do.

Seems like some of the motivation for these kinds of people would make their pre-emptively bragging about it more likely than other kinds of rampage killers.

Hmmph. Two words into the blockquote, I thought, I wonder if those kids in Isla Vista would be alive today if Elliot Rodger had a furrin-sounding name. Is that what it takes for the cops to take an interest in a homicidal threat-monger? I’m going to bed; I’ve had all of American social culture I can take for one day.

Depending on your definition of serious, last year. According to the interwebs Obama has been the target of several attempts, and Bush Jr. had a frigging grenade thrown at him (it failed to detonate).
