Drake Wants Southern Baptists to Join Operation American Spring

Wiley Drake, the right wing extremist who used to be one of the top officials in the Southern Baptist Convention, is pushing the convention to encourage their members to join Operation American Spring, the pathetic and tiny group of people who think they’re going to force Obama from office.

The Southern Baptist Convention is set to debate and vote on a motion to join an effort to impeach President Obama.

Former convention 2nd Vice President Wiley Drake entered the motion Tuesday at the Southern Baptists’ annual conference, which is being held in Baltimore.

Mr. Drake, pastor of First Southern Baptist Church in Buena Park, Calif., asked the convention to “consider leading us to consider being a part of Operation American Spring seeking the impeachment of the President of the United States.”

His motion was seconded by a scattering of the more than 4,400 conference registrants during an introduction of new motions by conference members.

But Operation American Spring doesn’t want Obama impeached, they want him arrested and tried for treason, along with the congressional leadership of both parties (because they’re too dumb to know that doing so would put Sen. Patrick Leahy in the White House). They had this fantasy that millions of people would show up in Washington, DC and Obama would be frogmarched out of the White House. Maybe Drake should pray for that to happen, since he thinks God answers his prayers.

Excellent idea! That’s how to not only show your power but get your congregations to make a real commitment.

He is also an attempted murderer and assassin.

He tried to kill the US President, Obama!!!

By witchcraft. Imprecatory prayer. This is the guy who attempted to enlist a powerful supernatural force, known as “god” as a murder weapon.

It didn’t work obviously. The Invisible Sky Fairy is less powerful than even a simple club. IIRC, the FBI had a word with him about exactly how he was going to kill Obama. About all I see is that the witch doctors have better outfits and the Voodooists have better parties.

Now, what exactly is the difference between primitive superstition and Oogedy Boogedy xianity?

Unfortunately (for comic purposes) Drake’s motion was ruled out of order because it would have directed SBC officers to act outside scope of their duties.

    1. For any fundies reading, magic and witchcraft don’t work!!!

    2. Xianity fails on many levels. The fundie perversion owns the Dark Side of our society. Nothing benign or uplifting about them. Thanks to them, satan, if he existed, would be out of a job.

The SBC joining forces? Why, that would be the largest, most world-changing group of old white men since the local American Legion post hosted a bridge tournament.

They’re getting desperate. Obama is only in office for another two years! If they don’t impeach him now, they’ll miss their chance!

Way to drive out ‘the kids’, crazy old white guy. Keep up the good work. We could use more secular citizens.
Green: “Most telling, perhaps, were the task force’s conclusions on the denomination’s “Next Generation Problem.” Although our churches have increasingly provided programs for children, students, and young adults,” they wrote, “we are not being effective in winning and discipling the next generation to follow Christ.” In terms of baptisms, they’re right: In 2012, 60 percent of churches reported that they didn’t baptize anyone aged 12 to 17, and 80 percent reported they had either zero or one baptism of someone aged 18-29. Although the report calls for pastors to “renew their focus” on young people, it’s unclear how that’s supposed to happen.”

I sincerely hope that there are few SBC pastors who already have too much of a focus on young people.

Well he’d better hurry it up or neither of them will be able to make it.

That’s okay. Hillary’s next. And with two more years of Bircher boogeymanism under their belt, her impeachment will start right after she takes the oath of office.

I have no doubt they’ll make a big production about how they “won” on November 8, 2016, and then again on January 20, 2017. I bet that they’ll say it was their protests and actions (and not, y’know, him following the law) that will have single-handedly prevented Obama from becoming dictator-for life.

Witchcraft is applied will power. It works, but it involves knowing what your will is and then doing it. To outsiders, it looks like a lot of work and not at all magical. The only magic is in the focusing of the will, because it changes the caster, who then changes reality.

He did the focus, but failed on the follow through because he didn’t do the hard work and change himself.

Actually, Drake’s prayer was excecuted perfectly. Obama just rolled a natural 20 on his saving throw.

Will there be potato salad? Because it’s hard to get Southern Baptists to show up unless there’s potato salad.

So Drake is as ignorant of SBC law as he is of federal law. And he was second VP? Huh.

Damn, if I were a superhero, I would just *know* I could bust him for something. That super villain The Dragon better hope that there are some other draconic-themed villains living in Our Fair City or his secret ID has just been blown wide open.
