SCOTUS Denies Cert in Murfreesboro Mosque Case

The Islamophobic bigots trying to stop a Muslim group in Murfreesboro, TN from building a new mosque to accommodate their growing congregation have lost for good now that the Supreme Court has refused to hear an appeal of the case they lost in the state courts.

After nearly four years in the courts, the U.S. Supreme Court put an end Monday to a county public notice case concerning the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro, an ICM official reported.

“That means the lawsuit over adequate notice is now completely over and Rutherford County has prevailed,” ICM board member Saleh Sbenaty said.

The Supreme Court rejected a request to hear an appeal of the case, originally filed in September 2010, that challenged whether adequate public notice was given before Rutherford County officials approved a request to build the Islamic Center on 15 acres on Veals Road.

Here’s my favorite part:

Plaintiffs’ attorney Joe Brandon Jr. of Murfreesboro also confirmed during a Monday phone interview that the case is over.

“It’s in the Lord’s hands now,” said Brandon, who along with attorney Tom Smith of Franklin represented plaintiffs Kevin Fisher, Lisa Moore and Henry Golczynski. “We have done all we can do.”

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if one of the bigots who have tried to stop the mosque from being built tried to take it into his own hands. The construction was already bombed once. Don’t be shocked if it happens again.

Given what an impotent wuss their “Lord” is in everything else, I’m sure that some zealot will “take a stand for Jeezus” that involves explosives or firearms.

And if a tornado totally levels one of their churches, it’ll be PROOF!!!!! that God hates the mosque.

A tsunami someplace in the world is also proof.

I think we should try and get one of the big secular groups to collect money and donate a bunch of surveillance cameras to the construction group….

I fear “the Lord’s hands” will look suspiciously like arson.

And if absolutely nothing happens to the mosque, will that mean that the Lord was fine with it all along?

I’m guessing that won’t be the interpretation.

The occasional massacre mosque is the price we pay for our Second First Amendment rights.

Also, if a tornado hits: the mosque, city hall, the mayor’s house, some random house in town, a park, the next town over, somewhere else in the state, or some other state.

Or if a building, or woods somewhere catch fire, an earthquake happens somewhere on the planet, or possibly a flood.

No path left but violence now. Hopefully, they are too chickenshit to try anything without the backing of at least the local law – even there an unlikely thing.

I should have become a lawyer. There was no chance the Supremes were going to take this case, yet someone presumably was willing to pay a lawyer to submit an appeal. Talk about eady money.

Yep, it’s in the lords hands now. And whose to say the lord didn’t command Ol’ Red Neckerson to bring down holy fire on them heathens? Funny how they want you to swear on the bible but they won’t take this defense. Will they?

“If a bear defecates in the great outdoors.”

Especially if his scat contains incense, bits of red leather Ferragamo slippers, parts of a weird pointy hat and something that seems to be the remains of a woman’s “slip”.

Now THAT would be some truly cath-o-lick shit.

So the only legal argument they could muster was that the mosque builders didn’t give adequate public notice? And they believed that SCOTUS might actually adjudicate that?

At the risk of being pedantic, giving adequate public notice is merely a question of fact, not one of law. The plaintiffs apparently conceded from the outset that they have no legal right to stop someone from building a mosque, and yet they went and tried to do it anyway.

P.S. For those of you who are perpetually confused about what Islamophobia is, here you go.
