NCSE Announces New Friend of Darwin Award Winners

The National Center for Science Education has announced this year’s winners of the Friend of Darwin award, given to those “whose efforts to support NCSE and advance its goal of defending the teaching of evolution have been truly outstanding.” I was very honored to have received this award myself in 2009 and this year it goes to the attorneys in the Dover case: Vic Walzcak, Eric Rothschild, Steve Harvey and Richard Katskee. Science journalist Faye Flam is also receiving the award. Congratulations to Vic, Eric, Steve and Richard, all of whom should have been given this award long before I ever did.

The name of the award is unfortunately close to that of the Darwin Award, which nobody wants to receive. But congrats anyway.

    Ditto :D
I was left wondering who would deserve the attribute “Friend of Darwin awards”

It’s nice that Faye Flam’s being recognized too. She’s one of the best science writers around, IMO.

Congratulations to the winners. I was fortunate enough to be present when Jack Krebs (of Kansas Citizens for Science) received his award back in…when was that, ’06? :)

Obviously, it’s the one who holds the Darwin Award winner’s beer.

I see I’m not the only one who had trouble with the headline. At first I thought it was about a new Friend of the Darwin Awards award.

Is ‘Friends with Benefits of Friends of Darwin’ award for the person who has the affair with the partner of a person who held the beer of another person who killed themselves while doing something really dumb?
