The Peter is Not Happy With Liberty U

As soon as I saw that Liberty University had hired a gay choreographer to work on a musical they’re putting on, I was eager with anticipation to see their fellow bigots attack them for it. Peter LaBarbera quickly obliged and attacked Warren Throckmorton as well:

Eliason: Christian News carried this story with the headline, ‘Liberty University Hires Open Homosexual Advocate To Choreograph Its Upcoming Broadway-Style Mary Poppins Production,’ what more do you know about this thing?

LaBarbera: I don’t know a lot about this one. Apparently he was a contractor and I think that the woman who spoke out on his behalf probably did not have the clearance of the university before she did that. I know the people I’ve worked with at Liberty and I hope they fix this problem because this is such a great organization, it’s done so much good work. Jerry Falwell did such tremendous work, Ronald Reagan would never have been president without Jerry Falwell, the founder of Liberty University.

The bigger story Vic is the one that didn’t get much play which is: Liberty University and other Christian universities who call themselves Christian, will they allow open homosexual advocates as students? In the old days if a student was out there celebrating sin, there would be consequences. But apparently that doesn’t happen much. We have other examples of course of universities gone bad. Good golly, Grove City College has some wonderful professors but they also have Warren Throckmorton who is pretty much a de facto gay activist now; a professor at Grove City College, which calls itself Christian and advertises in World Magazine and other Christian places, they have Warren Throckmorton who is pretty much a gay activist the way he advocates for homosexuality.

Eliason: It’s alarming when you see the percentage of homosexuals that have invaded the arts such as drama. But drama ends up being a tool to persuade the minds of people. It becomes a tool to do some mind-bending or to capture the minds of individuals. They’re starting now and you can see using Open Core [sic] and right on through the core idea of training children from right on up government-controlled education, and now we see what’s happening at the options of a university that could have put the brakes on this and said no, we’re going to look for someone who is really a representative of the lifestyle that we’re doing here. Does not Christianity have people of talent enough to do the choreography of a dramatic presentation without having to go to someone who openly endorses same-sex marriage?

LaBarbera: I think they do and I hope that Liberty does the right thing. Mat Staver, Matt Barber, Rena Lindevaldsen are just wonderful people and I think Liberty really has to watch it because of course the homosexual activists want to undermine Liberty, of course they want to undermine Christian institutions.

I suggest Bibles at twenty paces.

So the arts are “a tool to persuade the minds of people”?
That wouldn’t include a book of literature filled with primitive myths and a sociopathic main character who will torture for eternity anyone who doesn’t kiss his invisible ass, would it?

What? No! Someone, alert the media!

Next thing you know, they be all over the hair salons and fashion businesses.

Yes, it’s just shocking how the gays have started infiltrating the entertainment industry nowadays. This wouldn’t have happened back in Rock Hudson’s day.

LaBarbera made it into Saskatchewan. He was initially detained at Regina Airport on Thursday, but managed to convince the powers that be to let him in. He’s said he may come to Saskatoon to visit the University of Saskatchewan on Tuesday. He had the gall to tell local media he doesn’t hate gay people. The fact that the Saskatchewan Pro Life Association invited him to speak at their Weyburn conference tells you all you need to know about the leadership of that organisation, and similar groups. It never stops with just “protecting the unborn.”

Surprised a gay person would want anything to do with “LIberty” University in the first place. That’s like a Jew working for an anti-Semitic organization.

Yes, indeed — this one is solid gold.

Well, I’ll have to give him that.

At #6: Yeah, but trust me, any kind of free-lance art work is so precarious except for the handful of people at the very top, that LOTS of people take gigs they would much rather turn down. Those lofty principles won’t pay the bills, sadly.

That said, though, yes, this is a pretty extreme example. I would be hard pressed to accept any kind of work from LIberty University.

Thanks for the “heads up” Peter! (hee)!
I hope we found out in time to save the Tony awards!

But if the college chooses to listen to this kind of criticism and fire the choreographer, won’t they leave themselves open to a lawsuit based on discrimination? I understand that it’s a private institution, but it would be a pretty obvious case, it seems.

LaBarbera: I think they do and I hope that Liberty does the right thing.

Of course, accoding to christianity, in this scenario ‘the right thing’ means ‘be a bigot’.

I think it depends on whether Virginia has added sexual orientation to its anti-discrimination laws.

I’m wondering whether Liberty U and Goldberg have already signed a contract, and if so whether it includes financial penalties of one party or the other backs out of it.

I long for the good old days of Oscar Wilde, when gays were all bankers and lawyers. But now that they are invading even the arts, can the end of civilization be far away?

  15. says

What is a homosexual advocate? Are they different from regular homosexuals? How do I become one? Are there classes and tests? Do I have to renew my advocacy license every few years? Do I have to go to the gay DMV to do it? So many questions.

  16. trurl says

Does not Christianity have people of talent enough

Not if “God’s Not Dead” is any indication.

  17. Moggie says

billdaniels, a “homosexual advocate” doesn’t even need to be homosexual! They just need to be a somewhat decent human being.

  18. dingojack says

billdaniels – Isn’t that a cocktail, mostly made of a Dutch liqueur containing duck egg, rum, with a silly paper umbrella and a lot of whipped cream?
    ,
Oh sorry that’s a Homosexual Advocaat — my bad.

I don’t know a lot about this one.

Which, of course, won’t keep him from waxing stupid about it.

  20. lorn says

Sooo … A gay man assisting with a production of Mary Poppins is intolerable but lying to people about scientific facts and imposing your stone age religion and archaic morality and bigotry upon people is acceptable.

  21. jnorris says

I had always thought Mary Poppins was a witch. I am more surprised Liberty U. is allowing a play about a witch, who is not killed at the end, than the gay choreographer.

Yabbut how do you know this choregrapher isn’t a plant of the ghey supremacy movement? After all, art (and choreography) is “…a tool to do some mind-bending or to capture the minds of individuals.” What an opportunity to make the poor xtian drama students dance to his nefarious pro-gay-brain-bendy-mind-capturing choreography!!!
