Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, likely the next governor of that state, has been on a crusade against the “epidemic” of voter fraud, pushing a voter ID law and other measures, to stop it. But his office can only come up with a grand total of six cases in the last 13 years, two of which might have been prevented by voter ID.

O’Keefe’s Latest Bit of Stupid

The ongoing shitshow that is perpetual frat boy James O’Keefe continues to emit staggering amounts of idiocy. His latest undercover video, in which he dresses up as a hunter (I guess the pimp outfit was at the cleaners), has him asking a Republican congressman about an amendment he sponsored to the Voting Rights Act that “excludes white people.”

Corporate Personhood and the Contraception Mandate

Adam Winkler, a law professor at UCLA who is writing a book corporate personhood and constitutional rights, has a very interesting column at Slate arguing that it is precisely because corporations are persons for some constitutional purposes that they should not be exempted from the contraception mandate. He begins by pointing out that corporations are the legal equivalent of a person in many important constitutional ways, but that there are limits on what that means:

Ham: Eternal Torment An Act of Grace and Mercy

Sometimes I’m just astonished by how fundamentalist Christians use words. They seem to be like Humpty Dumpty, declaring that words can mean whatever they want them to mean. A perfect example is Ken Ham’s claim that God is going to burn Bill Maher (and the rest of us heathens, of course) in a lake of fire for eternity because he’s merciful.
