Kern: People Make Me Look Like an Idiot

Sally Kern, a certified dumbass who thinks gay people are a greater threat to America than terrorists, went on Janet Parshall’s radio show and she was quite upset that those evil gay people make her sound like an idiot by, you know, quoting her accurately.

Kern told Parshall that she was outraged that people wanted to make her seem like an “idiot” for simply stating that “the homosexual agenda is a bigger threat than terrorism.”

“I was using what I use as a teacher, you know when you’re teaching high school students you try to find something they can relate to, to share a concept with, so they can grasp that concept better,” Kern continued. “So everybody understands terrorism destroys people’s lives, it destroys property. All I meant was, all I was saying was the homosexual agenda is destroying people’s lives. More people have died from AIDS than have died from a terrorist attack here in America. It’s destroying the moral fiber of our nation, that’s all I meant.”

She lamented that gay rights advocates “try to ridicule you and make you feel like an idiot so that you’ll be intimidated and not speak out anymore.”

Sally, I don’t know how to break this to you, but the reason you look like an idiot is that you are, in fact, an idiot. And you prove it when you say shit like this:

It just broke my heart because so often what they were doing, they weren’t just stoning me, they were stoning and desecrating the God that I love.

Stoning you? That’s called criticism. Stoning is what your barbaric God commands you to do with gay people.

Kern told Parshall that she was outraged that people wanted to make her seem like an “idiot”…

…when she is perfectly capable of doing so on her own.

She lamented that gay rights advocates “try to ridicule you and make you feel like an idiot so that you’ll be intimidated and not speak out anymore.”

Well, gosh, now I just have to ask whether or not she feels like an idiot.

“Well, they’ll stone ya when you’re trying to be so good
“They’ll stone ya just a-like they said they would
“They’ll stone ya when you’re tryin’ to go home
“Then they’ll stone ya when you’re there all alone
“But I would not feel so all alone
    “Everybody must get stoned”

Ahh, good ol’ Janet Parshall. She usually opens her show thusly:

“Hello friends! As good Christians of the Church – capital ‘C’ universal – guess who we’re going to hate today?”

Rufus T. Firefly: “Gentlemen, Chicolini here may talk like an idiot, and look like an idiot, but don’t let that fool you: he really is an idiot.”

All I meant was, all I was saying was the homosexual agenda is destroying people’s lives. More people have died from AIDS than have died from a terrorist attack here in America.

She must really be opposed to the NRA’s agenda.

The scariest thing is the thought that Sally Kern is a teacher.

This is like one of those questions where someone asks me if the jeans they’re wearing make them look fat and the smartass in me invariably answers that it’s not the jeans that make them look fat…Mrs. Kern, nobody needs to make you look like an idiot, you’re going such a great job of it already.

It just broke my heart because so often what they were doing, they weren’t just stoning me, they were stoning and desecrating the God that I love.

When a Christian compares themself to God, doesn’t it ever occur to them how bad this sounds?

    Dear Sally –
You claimed “More people have died from AIDS than have died from a terrorist attack here in America.
So how many people died in America of heart failure, cancer, gun shot wounds and etc.?
What no ‘moralistic’ condemnations of those causes of death?
    Dingo
    ——–
CDC Mortality and Morbidity Report 2010:
Number of deaths for leading causes of death:
    •Heart disease: 597,689
    •Cancer: 574,743
    •Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 138,080
    •Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 129,476
    •Accidents (unintentional injuries): 120,859
    •Alzheimer’s disease: 83,494
    •Diabetes: 69,071
•Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 50,476
    •Influenza and Pneumonia: 50,097
    •Intentional self-harm (suicide): 38,364
(HIV peaks in all sexes, all races at 25-45 year olds at 2.7 % (1,898 cases). about half of those killed in the 2001 Attack on the WTC, as opposed to heart disease that killed nearly 200 times more people).

    Hmmm…let’s see.
    US population: 350 million.
Percent gay: somewhere between 1-5%. Let’s say 1%
    Gay US population: 3.5 million
    Homicide rate 2011-2012: 4.4 per 100,000
Expected number of people killed by gays 2011-2012: 154
Number of USAans killed by terrorists (excluding war deaths) in 2011: 17. No statistics for 2012 so let’s double that number to give 34 for 2011-2012.

I think its fair to say that yep, gays can be expected to kill more people in a given year than terrorists. But only (a) assuming they are as homicidal as straight people, and (b) because Americans vastly, vastly overestimate the danger of being killed by a terorrist, making it an increibly stupid yardstick. Gays are more dangerous than terrorists in the same way that liquid nitrogen is hotter than liquid helium.

  11. matty1 says

AIDS is part of the gay agenda? Correct me if I’m wrong here but I don’t think there is any group that actually advocates people should get AIDS.

Of course maybe she means some groups encourage behaviour that increases the risk of HIV transmission in which case:

    1. She should be advocating for gay people to become more monogamous, say by supporting legal same sex marriage.

    2. There are other targets she could go after and do more good *cough Catholic Church cough*

People don’t make Kern look like an idiot. Kern makes Kern look like an idiot.

This reminds me of the thought experiment, “If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound if no one is around the hear it?

On the tree I’m confident it does. Regarding Ms. Kern, I think that’s probably true as well though unlike the tree falling analogy, it takes a whole lotta stupid to be stupid even if no one is around to observe.

  13. says

Actually, Sally, they’re not making you LOOK like an idiot; you are an idiot, some folks are just lighting you up so the rest of us can see how stupid you are.

    @18:

If “stupid” was worth money, Kerns would be Warren Buffett.

  14. Childermass says

Wait until next year when her husband, Rev. Dr. Steve Kern gets in the state senate. Steve makes Sally seem brilliant.

  15. anubisprime says

The real sadness is…some dumbfucks will actually vote for her… not because it is some weird tactic to screw her ambitions up, but because they whole heartedly agree with her.

That is the idiocy right there.!

  16. Christoph Burschka says

I think I see someone who is actually scarier than terrorists, and it’s not the gays:

what I use as a teacher, you know when you’re teaching high school students

    NOPE

  17. steve78b says

This is Sally Kern who is a member of the legislature in Oklahoma? Maybe that explains a lot of problems here.

    Steve

  18. abb3w says

So, she doesn’t understand that the word “bigger” linguistically implies a partial ordering relationship?

Cue old ScienceBlogs content on phatic communication. Even though he seems to have turned out having had a rotten streak to his personal life rendering him (to put it mildly) far less of a moral paragon than he was an intellectual one, Bora Zivkovic wrote about some interesting ideas.

  19. coffeehound says

    @ 11,

    •Heart disease: 597,689

Yes, but until she figures a way to blame heart disease on teh gays, that won’t be commented upon.
Sally, Sally, just put down the shovel and the idiot hole won’t deepen anymore..
