Tom DeLay Joins the Moonie Times

Super-Christian and former Speaker of the House Tom DeLay is joining the Washington Times, owned by the Unification Church and founded by the Rev. Moon, who claimed to be the true messiah who had to come because Jesus failed to redeem mankind. But hey, as long as the check clears, right?

Tom DeLay, once one of the most powerful officials in Washington, will join The Washington Times as a weekly columnist and radio personality.

Starting this week, Mr. DeLay will appear on a weekly on-demand radio show with Andy Parks, who separately hosts “Live from the Washington Times” on WRC AM-1260 on weekdays. Mr. DeLay’s 30-minute program will be streamed on the Kaliki-based, on-demand radio network that was recently established in partnership with The Times.

Mr. DeLay will elaborate on the themes he develops on air into a weekly column for The Times.

“I’m very excited about having a platform for a dialogue with the American people,” Mr. DeLay said. “The Washington Times was always my favorite newspaper in Washington. It was the first thing I read in the morning. Being part of The Washington Times is a big honor for me.”

As usual, religion is far less important than money. He’s more than happy to help make money for the fascist Moonie cult as long as he gets a cut.

As you point out, they are in agreement on the main points: authoritarian cult leaders who use religion to keep the troops in line. The details are unimportant.

Will Delay now run around selling flowers in airports and joining mass marriages with strangers?

Majority Leader. Even the Republicans are better than that—though this was during Newt’s tenure as Speaker.

I’m hearing Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire” in my head right now: “Moonie Times hires Tom DeLay; what else do I have to say?”
