Ah, the Wit and Irony of Scott Lively

Scott Lively and Peter LaBarbera held a press conference on Friday to announce their all-new anti-gay group, not to be confused with their already existing anti-gay groups, and it was briefly interrupted by an activist shouting “stop killing us.” Here’s Lively’s staggeringly hypocritical response:

As the video begins, one of the speakers for Defend Family International, which was holding what it called a “Pro-Russian, Pro-Family” press conference, is interrupted by an activist speaking in Russian. Another activist repeats what is held on a pink sign in the background, “Stop killing us.”

“Stop killing speech,” Dr. Lively replies. “This is not your forum.”…

When the activist insists on speaking, Dr. Lively says, “this is what I would like to bring to the attention of everyone in this room — this is what we call ‘homo-fascism.’”

“‘Homo-fascism,’” he continues, “is a hard-left, totalitarian mindset that attempts to suppress all perspectives on the homosexual issue except those that favor their positions.”

Said by a man advocating in favor of a law that puts people in jail merely for advocating equality, a law that has seen people arrested for doing nothing more than carrying a rainbow flag. A law that lively calls one of his proudest achievements and that he wants to replicate all over the world. Fascism indeed.

StevoR : Free West Papua, free Tibet, let the Chagossians return!

    Pro-Russian eh?

That’d get you on a certain list a few decades ago wouldn’t it? I believe a certain senator Joe McCarthy’s list to be precise?

    How times have changed.

I am not a Know-Nothing. That is certain. How could I be? How can any one who abhors the oppression of negroes, be in favor or degrading classes of white people? Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that “all men are created equal.” We now practically read it “all men are created equal, except negroes” When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read “all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics.” When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty — to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy.

Can’t they be convinced to move to Russia? Will they then convert to the established Russian Orthodox Church? The pinheads think that the Russians are God’s new blessed people because they happen agree with Puto on this single issue, see if their “fleece the flock” bullshit is tolerated by the current “We’re commies anymore” regime.

    If, as Lively suggests,

Homo-fascism . . . is a hard-left, totalitarian mindset that attempts to suppress all perspectives on the homosexual issue except those that favor their positions

then what do they call a hard-right, totalitarian mindset that attempts to suppress all perspectives on the homosexual issue except those that favor their positions?

what’s going on with the trial proceedings against Lively?

that would be far more interesting.

I can’t find any updates on this. I’d love to see this schmuck go on trial for crimes against humanity. Would be a valuable service.

Lively was in 2012 sued by Sexual Minorities Uganda. He is accused of fanning anti-gay flames in the East African country during an address to parliament members in 2009. The complaint alleges Lively encouraged government-backed acts of violence against gays as a result of his rhetoric.

    Lively has denied this

how the fuck can he deny it? he was there, he said that shit, and has been repeatedly noted working behind the scenes to encourage the govt of Uganda to pass anti-homosexuality laws.

    that ain’t free speech.

Imagine if Osama Bin Laden was in the US, influencing members of Congress to pass Sharia Law… and succeeding.

I can’t tell you what they call it. I can tell you what I call their behavior… projection.

…with Ronald Reagan pushing you into the spotlight from behind.

what galls me is how relatively few people see how ridiculous these people are.

Lively for governor? are you fucking kidding me?

If David Duke was still young, he’d be a shoo-in in a lot of these states apparently.

Lively himself calls it “Tsarism,” thinks Putin is restoring it and that it is a good idea:
