‘Voter Fraud’ in ‘Key Swing State’

Here’s another state investigation that found “rampant” voter fraud, a whopping 17 cases in Ohio, most of which were probably just mistakes by secretary of state office workers. But Fox News wants you to know that this happened in a “key swing state.”

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted announced Wednesday that his office found 17 non-citizens illegally cast ballots in the 2012 presidential election — and has referred the case for possible prosecution.

The alleged crime would be a notable case of voter fraud in a key swing state. By law, only American citizens are allowed the privilege of casting ballots for the nation’s leaders…

President Obama beat Mitt Romney in Ohio by just 2 percentage points in November 2012.

Uh, yeah. There were 2.7 million votes cast in Ohio in 2012. That 2% margin was 104,000 votes. So those 17 votes comprised .00017% of the margin (and that would assume that they all voted the same way, which is unlikely). OMG! They’re stealing the election! And bear in mind that the way undocumented people end up on voter rolls is not through intentional fraud, it’s because they go in to get a driver’s license, are given a voter’s registration and they just fill it out. If it’s not flagged, they go on the rolls and they likely don’t even know that they aren’t supposed to be eligible.

There may be 17 fraudulent votes, but – unsurprisingly – the (hit) piece doesn’t say for which party was voted for.

The implication made by Fox Nuisance is that the fraudulent votes are for democrats. Independent reports in various places say differently.

The figure that I have says that the difference was 166,277votes which is 2.97 percentage points. I don’t think my 8th grade math teacher would have allowed me to round off 2.97 to 2.

I wanted the meme to get some traction before I let anyone else know but, since, you’ve spilled the beans–Votergate(TM)(Sm)(c) and Fraudgate (TM)(Sm)(c) are both registered as intellectual properties of democommie ministries and media, LLC, LSD & PCP*. Licensing information and rates are available from my legal representatives at the law firm, Loot, Rape and Pillage.

    * Not to be confused with democommie media and ministries PCP, LSD and LLC.

Yes, but you’re forgetting how many Missing White Votes there were on account of all those New Black Panthers scaring them away from the polls. It was just like Jim Crow, but with the colors reversed! Where’s your outrage at this? Where?!

  6. mobius says

    Ah…Ed…

    That is 0.017%, not 0.00017%.

Remember, %, as in “per 100″, moves the decimal 2 places to the right. (Sorry, math geek in me coming out.)

Still, an awfully tiny fraction of the margin. But then, this is Faux News.

Holy Hannah! Seventeen cases? That’s more than fourteen!

It’s an increasing trend that clearly represents a threat to Truth, Justice, and the American Way.

And it’s happening now not just in a swing state, but in a key swing state!

Butbutbut, 17 Frauds is just the tip of the iceberg, you know. Further ranting by talented faux news commentators may yet inflate that figure to a real crisis.

    @7 Modusoperandi,

Damn, sorry my outrage was tied up when I was forced to watch some random Justin Beiber thing, would you accept mild annoyance or possibly vague disinterest?
