WND Declares War on Christmas. Again.

Just as they did in 2012, the Worldnetdaily is trying to have it both ways on Christmas. On the one hand, they print all these articles about the alleged “war on Christmas.” On the other hand, they put up videos declaring that Christmas is a pagan holiday. Their latest says that December 25 is actually the birthday of Baal, not Jesus. WND, why do you have the baby Jesus so much?

WND, why do you have the baby Jesus so much?

I’m guessing that’s a typo, but it came out pretty funny.

But… how… okay, hold up, even if you DO believe that both Jesus and Baal exist, how in the fuck could Baal have a birthday? Even from a Christian point of view, Baal is either A) a false Canaanite deity that didn’t actually exist or B) a demon who was worshiped as a god by the Canaanites. (The latter is extra-biblical speculation on the part of various imaginative fundies, but when has that ever been a problem?) So how can a fake/demonic being have a date of birth?

I know, I know, it’s all made up anyway. But if you’re going to believe in a fantasy, can you at least TRY to make it internally consistent?

Fwiw, I’m looking to co-opt a religion to make today it’s holiest high day as today is the first day that sunset starts later than the day before. Granted, this needed the modern concept of standardized time, so I’m thinking FSM or IPU.

I wasn’t entirely sure what he was getting at with that video. So I punished myself by watching another, “Christmas was once illegal?”

His answer is yes. And he approves.

    So I guess that’s that.

  5. matty1 says

Isn’t Baal, Jesus’ older brother? Both being sons of Yahweh Saboath in the opinion of some and Baal having a few centuries head start.

  6. Ichthyic says

WND, why do you have the baby Jesus so much?

    another freudian slip?

regular malapropism is not a good thing. Hope this isn’t a symptom :(
