D’Souza Keeps On Lying

Dinesh D’Souza continues to tell lies about President Obama and the Worldnetdaily continues to promote them. He’s now release an addendum to his ridiculous documentary claiming that Obama is deliberately trying to destroy America making this absolutely false claim:

In the 2012 highest-grossing documentary, “2016: Obama’s America,” political commentator Dinesh D’Souza made some startling predictions about the second term of Barack Obama – and now he has released a fresh, eight-minute addition to the film revealing how the president plans to “take America down a notch.”

D’Souza explains, “One of the predictions is that Obama would spend money promiscuously to raise the debt in virtual indifference to the impact of the debt on American citizens. In fact, Obama has been racking up the debt at the rate of $1 trillion a year. The debt has doubled in Obama’s term in office.”…

“Unfortunately, I wasn’t wrong. Wielding a weaponized national debt and a disdain for our standing in the world, President Obama draws us nearer and nearer to the dystopia that I warned against in 2016.”

This is a lie. President Obama took office in January, 2009, but that year’s budget was passed months earlier. The federal debt at the end of 2009 was $11.875 trillion. At the end of 2013, it is estimated to be $17.55 trillion, which means it’s actually gone up about 50%, not doubled. But you know who did double it? President Bush. At the end of 2001, the federal debt was $5.77 trillion; at the end of 2009, it was, as noted above, $11.875 trillion, more than double. So of course, D’Souza was making documentaries about Bush “wielding a weaponized national debt” back then, right? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

No. Why would he? For one thing, criticism was treason. For another, nobody in that era had any idea that Obama was so powerful that he alone could jack up the debt all on their own. He probably something to do with Fannie Mae, too. Probably. Also, I personally witnessed him forcing banks to lend to “urban” people (*wink wink*). And he sabotaged the annexation of Iraq. Somehow. And further…

macallan “‘2012 highest-grossing documentary’ – by what metric?”
The metric where church basements are theaters.

TCC “macallan – Sadly, by US box office sales ($33.3 million). I didn’t believe it, either, but it appears to be the case, as fucking depressing as that is.”
I take it as a good sign. At eight bucks a ticket that’s only four million people, or a little over one percent of the population, who hate Obama enough to waste two hours with a ticket their pastor gave them, simply to confirm their biases.
The scared old white people market is shrinking.

Probably the only true statement in the article Ed quoted.
They’ve got to be fucking kidding. Is it April 1st already?

OK, what did he spend it on? Most of the increase in debt over the past decade has been due to the Bush tax cuts, the wars, the bailouts, the decrease in revenue from the 2008 collapse, and mandatory spending on social programs that automatically increased in response to the economic situation. Oh, yeah, and defense increases, but conservatives love that. Ask a conservative what Obama spend the money on and you’ll get the impression that foreign aid and food stamps comprise a far greater portion of the budget than they really do. Or that Obama personally expanded either one of those things.

You just don’t get it, do you? Bush was spending the national treasure on important things. Obama’s just been wasting it – on the same things, yes, but they’re just not important when Obama does it.

  6. gshelley says

How free is Obama to spend money that congress hasn’t authorised? From the rrecent debacle, I remember that some essential spending does not need to be re-authorised every year. Is DeSouza claiming that Obama has massively increased this, and is that even possible?

Wait a sec .. Dinesh D’Souza warned us about stuff when he was speaking – from the future!?

    OFSM!!!! He’s a time traveller!!!1eleventy-one!

Guess that also explains why we didn’t listen to D’Souza’s warning – we haven’t even heard it yet.
