The Staggering Hypocrisy of Lars Larson

Lars Larson is one of the roughly 28,000 regional Rush Limbaugh clones on talk radio, an ignorant blowhard who spews inanities on the air for fun and profit. And he has a staggeringly inconsistent and incoherent take on the fight over equality between the Cheney sisters. Why, he just can’t believe that Mary Cheney would say something about it publicly!

On Monday, Fox News host Gretchen Carlson noted that former Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne, had released a statement saying they had dealt with the situation “privately for many years” and called for compassion.

“That’s exactly where it should stay, it should stay private,” conservative radio host Lars Larson agreed. “And what I find disturbing about this, I have friends of 40 years who are gay. I don’t care. What they do in their own bedroom is their business. When you bring something to the public sphere and demand that government acknowledge, sanction and endorse gay marriage then there are going to differences.”

“I think it’s sad that Liz Cheney’s sister has chosen to make this a public fight to damage her sister’s political ambitions,” he continued. “And to do it in a way that doesn’t respect Liz Cheney’s personal beliefs or personal values.”

“We hear a lot about personal values from the left. And yet it sounds like as far as the gay agenda goes, it’s take no prisoners and yes is the only answer. And if you don’t agree, we’ll do everything we can to hurt you.”

Jesus. We’d need a desk the size of Wyoming and one of the heads from Mt. Rushmore on this one. Liz Cheney is going out of her way to publicly declare that her own sister’s marriage, which she attended, should be nullified and that she should be denied equal rights, but Mary is out of line for calling her out over the use of her life as a political weapon. The only one trying to hurt someone here is Liz and the person she is trying to hurt is someone she claims to love and support. Fuck Liz Cheney. And fuck Lars Larson too.

“We hear a lot about personal values from the left.”

Do we? I thought most of the hypocritical “family values” crap came from the right. Hey, did you hear about the Florida congressman who got busted for cocaine a month after voting that food stamp recipients should be tested fro drug use? Care to guess which political party he belongs to?

Not a big deal, but are you sure she attended the wedding?

During the facebook brouhaha, I thought it was just said that Liz had just called and “wished them happiness”.

Lars Larson and Gretchen Carlson – are they from Minnesota?
Forgive my ignorance – I’m a stupid foreigner.
    Dingo

Amateur. He didn’t make the obligatory mention of something being rammed down Christians’ throats.

Of course he’d rather homosexuals stay in the closet. The one and only reason there has been such a drastic change in the last decade or so in people’s views on marriage equality is because so many gay and lesbian people have come out of the closet.

When Junior Bush was running for election the GOP got people to the polls by putting anit-marriage equality amendments on the ballots, and that got a lot of conservative voters to come out of their doomsday bunkers to vote.

Now that plan has backfired. So many good people have come out of the closet that rational folks ALL have gay friends now. Everyone (except hardcore head-in-sand conservatives) knows someone who is being discriminated against, and understands that they don’t deserve it.

Gay and Lesbian people have themselves to thank for the progress that is happening. Just being themselves and doing it publicly has done the most for their cause. Staying in the closet made it much easier to discriminate against them, and that’s why assholes like Lars Larson wishes it was still the norm.

I suspect that he only says that now ’cause he’s busy fighting against same sex marriage. If he were to win that fight, he’d probably suddenly be very concerned what people do in their own bedrooms.

Well, yes, because Mary’s such a big, terrible- lefty? WTF?
The real take home message is that right or left, if your gay you shut up about who you are, and if your lifestyle gets bashed by someone else, say nothing. Or be branded a bully and usurper of religious rights for defending yourself.

Living in the northwest I hear Liars Larson and his inane comments way more than I should. He is a douche-nozzle, end of story.

Being Swedish, I apologize for us exporting the grandparents of Lars Larson.
Then again, his offspring should at some point suffer mutational meltdown and fail to reproduce. What is it with the Midwest that does this to people?

    “28,000 regional Rush Limbaugh clones”
OK, you have the explanation for the many transcriptional errors right there. His gene pool must be getting mucky with all the replications.
