Vander Plaats: Disobeying God = Constitutional Crisis

Bob Vander Plaats, king of the Iowa wingnuts and bigots, went on Steve Deace’s radio show and claimed that the Supreme Court’s DOMA ruling cause a “constitutional crisis” because the ruling defied “the law of nature and the law of nature’s God.” Funny Bob, but that’s exactly what was said about the ruling on interracial marriage 46 years ago too.

Is there not a single tea party type who passed high school civics? Just because you don’t like a Supreme Court ruling, that doesn’t make it a “constitutional crisis.”

  2. John Pieret says

Umm … Bob, “the law of nature and the law of nature’s God” doesn’t come from the Constitution. And the Congress that approved the Declaration of Independence was two constitutions removed from today’s Congress.

Know what else defied god’s law & ‘nature’? Outlawing slavery about one hundred fifty years ago.

Haven’t you heard, Christianity has “always” been about freedom and denying slavery. You have total free will to do whatever they say you can.

Thanks, Ed — I’ve just reposted this clip on my own blog, and bestowed the Through the Looking Glass Award on both Deace and Vander Plaats.

I wonder what it’s like to live in a glass bubble. An opaque glass bubble.
