Another Day, Another Anti-Mikey Article

Not a day goes by lately when you can’t find yet another wingnut website going off on an outraged diatribe about the evils of my friend Mikey Weinstein. Today it’s the Patriot Update, which claims that the military is engaged in a “war on Christianity” that is all Mikey’s fault and will lead to the Chinese taking over the country. Yes, seriously.

One of the chief architects of the military’s war on Christianity is Mikey Weinstein, head of the grossly misnamed Military Religious Freedom Foundation. Weinstein has become a constant thorn in the side of the military brass. According to The Washington Times, “Mr. Weinstein has the Pentagon on his speed-dial, making it easy to call a general every time he sees a soldier making the sign of the cross or appearing on the verge of silent prayer.” What is interesting about all of these attacks on religious liberty in the military is what the record and common sense suggest they will eventually lead to. The most effective, most renowned military leaders in America’s history were Christians to varying degrees. Yes, they ranged from nominal to dedicated and from lukewarm to pious, but for the most part they were Christians. Check the record.

If the attacks on religious freedom in the military continue unabated—which is likely in a country increasingly controlled by secular humanists—the American military of the future will be nothing more than a small and impotent club of like-minded atheists and homosexuals. When this happens, the only members of the American military who will volunteer for combat will be women looking to punch their ticket for the next promotion. No wonder the Chinese have adopted a wait-and-be-patient strategy for gaining military superiority over the United States. If things continue in the direction they are now headed, the Chinese will one day be able to overpower our military using nothing more than firecrackers.

A country increasingly controlled by secular humanists? I wish that were true, but it certainly isn’t. The comments from the site’s followers is pretty much exactly what you’d expect.

This jerk and all the Atheist in this country are in for a rude awakening. While living in France 2000-2007, the Muslims told us that they hated Christians, Jews and all other religions. I replied back, “what about the Atheist; where do they stand on your immoral hate list”? Their reply was the following – “we hate all non-Muslim religions, BUT we especially hate the Atheist”. I replied back, and why is that – “because the most hated thing about the Atheist to them was – because they DON’T believe in ANY GOD”. I kid you not, that’s what they said. They said that they would use the Atheist to take down America, because they were especially easy to manipulate and can be used as a front, window dressing. If the Atheist are doing their dirty work, out front, and demanding via ACLU to remove all Christian and Jewish symbols, no prayer in public schools, remove Ten Commandments from court houses, etc.; than the public wont blame the Muslims. Oh!, no, it’s not us doing it, it’s the Atheist. The Muslims will kill the Atheist first, they will be first to go. They are simply a pawn and puppet for them. So, good luck Atheist, you are being used, you morons.

Oh yes, I’m sure Muslims in France told him that they were using atheists in America to bring down the country. I’m sure he had exactly that conversation with Muslims in France, don’t you?

Good thing he wasn’t around with this crap when I was in the AIR FORCE he would have had his head HANDED TO HIM BIG TIME! THEIS ATHIEST BASTARD NEEDS HIS ASS KICKED BY A REAL RED NECK PATRIOTIC AMERICAN!

I’d like to see that be attempted, actually.

Hey, Mikey, you are riding the wrong camel in this battle, Get over it and do something useful with your life, like serving in obama’s soup kitchens. You would be more useful there, than ranting this Nazi crap.

Well okay then.

Mikey Weinstein is nothing more than a big mouth, SECULAR Jew, just like David Silverman, head of the American Atheists Association. My daughter is half Jewish , so you can drop the anti-Semetic label right now. George Soros was a Jew that served the Nazis, renounced his own religion, and now considers himself a “god”? Karl Marx was a Jew who hated his own heritage and worked diligently for a system (Communism) that was determined at the minimum to punish Jews just for being Jews! Why do we let these people, ANY people do this to Christianity? Get this parasite out of the Pentagon’s hair and reiterate what the First Amendment of our Constitution says. In this country you have the Constitutional right, which surpasses ALL laws to the contrary, that you HAVE the FREEDOM of religion and the practice of such shall not be prohibited! The government cannot ESTABLISH a religion, nor stop you from practicing yours!

Very coherent.

CAIR must be paying Mickey very well. Remember this Mickey…. there are NO atheists in Foxholes! And, by the way, Muslims demand time to pay homage to their leader each day, and stop what they’re doing to do so. Are you also against that?

Uh, Mikey isn’t against anyone praying. He’s against officers forcing others to pray.

Where Obama finds these dirt bags like Weinstein is incredible, he has placed hundreds of anti-American, anti-Constitutional rights swine in positions where they can do damage, Obama is sure swine will ruin everything and he may be right, look at him.

What, exactly, does Obama have to do with any of this? And by the way, Mikey was a counsel in the White House under Reagan, not Obama.

This man Mikey Weinstein is hand pick by Obama this Godless anti American phony prez. Anyone that Obama the muslim picks, expect the worst. These people are Obama’s demons and they were put in place to destroy everything good about this Country.

Obama had nothing to do with Mikey being “pick” (for what, exactly?). These people just aren’t capable of thinking about anything without blaming it on Obama. The comments go on and on like that.

According to The Washington Times, “Mr. Weinstein has the Pentagon on his speed-dial, making it easy to call a general every time he sees a soldier making the sign of the cross or appearing on the verge of silent prayer.”

I found this a little hard to believe, even for the Washington Times, so I did a little searching. Turns out the quote is from an editorial (unattributed of course) line that starts with “The Family Research Council suggests that…”, perfectly illustrating how a suggestion becomes documented fact in the minds of a wingnut.

My daughter is half Jewish , so you can drop the anti-Semetic label right now.

You know, if you have to preemptively deny being anti-Semitic right just as you’re giving a list of people you think are awful and attributing that awfulness to their being Jewish, you’re anti-Semitic. Own it.

  3. laurentweppe says

I’m sure he had exactly that conversation with Muslims in France, don’t you?

I wouldn’t discount it: I know quite a few french Muslims who, if facing an american fundie, would be very tempted to tell him a lot of bullshit bullshit just to see how much he could swallow before realizing that he’s being made fun of.

  4. says

    “My daughter is half Jewish”
    WTFing huh??

Does that mean that she believes only the first two and a half books of the bible?

Otherwise I don’t see it, I mean if the writer is a guy and his wife is a Jew then wouldn’t their daughter just be Jewish?

Radical Islamists don’t like infidels? I am shocked, shocked to hear that.

At least he didn’t regurgitate the usual wingnut nonsense about how Muslims and atheists are in league with each other. It’s actually slightly less delusional to accuse us of merely being their dupes.

    This:

… would no doubt be no less true if you replaced “effective” with “ineffective” and “renowned” with “obscure”. Check the record.

I’m gonna have to agree with The Patriot on this one. After all, going from 0.5% to 1% is an increase.

  8. bushrat says

This reminds me of the Onion News report that said the new official language of the USA was going to be incomprehensible shouting. Maybe the Onion is a real news network after all.

  9. Mr Ed says

Every time a soldier stops to pray Mikey stops them. Every time a sailor makes the sign of the cross Mikey pulls his hand back. I can only think of two people who can see what everyone is doing, Santa and God. So Mikey I want a Red Rider BB gun or forgive my sins.

According to them, everyone already has religious freedom: the Talibangelicals have the religious freedom to force their religion on everyone else, and everyone else has the religious freedom either to accept and obey, or move to a different country.

  11. dugglebogey says

I love how Obama can be blamed for everything.

Why do people think Atheists like Muslims? I know that Atheists in America catch the most crap and have Christianity forced on them more often, but it seems to me like Atheists would feel exactly the same about Islam if that were being pushed on them 24/7.

  12. says

If the Chinese were using anyone to weaken America it would be the fundie crowd given their inability to accept large chunks of modern science and generally divisive behaviour. It would be interesting to see the reaction if some right wing Christian group was revealed to be taking money from Beijing.

…. Their reply was the following – “we hate all non-Muslim religions, BUT we especially hate the Atheist”

Damn! I guess it’s back to believing for me…..

  14. Loqi says

Makes sense. You see, if a military doesn’t have enough Jesus, they can be beaten by the godless Chinese. Jesus is kinda weird like that; he doesn’t have a linear relationship with military might. It’s mostly a positive correlation, but once you hit very small amounts of Jesus, military might suddenly skyrockets and you can start beating up countries with higher, but not high enough, Jesus levels.

Weinstein has become a constant thorn in the side of the military brass

Yea, it’s a real pain when some jerk keeps pointing out that you aren’t following the law.

  16. matty1 says

Muslims demand time to pay homage to their leader each day

Does anyone else think this is an odd way to put it? It makes it sound like Muslims are praying to a politician. Maybe they think Obama is the Muslim god.

  17. matty1 says

Looking online it seems George Soros’ father protected him from the Nazi’s for a while by getting him work delivering eviction notices to other Jewish families. It’s a stretch to think that the lack of paperwork would have stopped the Nazi’s deporting those families anyway let alone that a 13 year old delivery boy could have influenced anything but I think that’s where it stems from.

  18. caseloweraz says

From “The PU”: My daughter is half Jewish , so you can drop the anti-Semetic label right now.

    (Emphasis added.)

Perhaps we could replace it with an “anti-emetic” label. Or one that reads “WARNING — misspelling ethnic terms is punishable by shunning.

  19. caseloweraz says

Soros now considers himself a god? I think Mr. Goetsch ought to check with Soros about that.

Oh, wait; Goetsch doesn’t care about the truth.

  20. caseloweraz says

Goetsch writes of soldiers “appearing on the verge of silent prayer”?

Doesn’t the verge of silent prayer surround the Castle of Auuggghh where the Holy Grail is hidden? I think the security cameras monitoring the verge would make soldiers easy to spot there.

But all seriousness aside (as Steve Allen used to say), even absent the ridiculous assumption that Mikey can see soldiers everywhere, how absurd is it that just looking at someone reveals his or her silent intention to begin a prayer?

  21. Ichthyic says

Perhaps we could replace it with an “anti-emetic” label. Or one that reads “WARNING — misspelling ethnic terms is punishable by shunning.

    anti-semetic….

sounds like a description for a condom.
