Bauer Attacks Sandra Fluke at VVS

At the Values Voters Summit, Gary Bauer launched yet another attack on Sandra Fluke. Really? Still, after all this time? And of course, he lied in the process, saying that she wanted everyone else to pay for her birth control (false; she just wanted it included in the insurance coverage in the health care exchanges). And he called her “promiscuous” without a shred of evidence (or relevance — so what if she was? Why is that his business at all?). And he bizarrely claims that President Obama calling her was “the definition of civilization decline.” Uh, why?

And he bizarrely claims that President Obama calling her was ‘the definition of civilization decline.’ Uh, why?

To be fair, Obama did start the conversation by asking her what she was wearing.

    Alternately:
A black man talking to a single white woman! Imagine!

Because all civilized people attack young women they don’t know because they want access to contraceptives and, therefore, … gasp …may not be chaste.

The word “co-ed” is a total dog whistle, isn’t it?

I mean, yes, some people use it because they’re just old fashioned. Because they were actually around when it was a relatively novel thing for male and female students to attend college together.

But in 2013 when people use it, it really sounds…well, normative. As if it’s still an unusual, perhaps inappropriate, thing for there to be female students. Alongside male students. Like– there are students (male), and then there are co-eds (female). Not just all….students.

Because to people like him and El Rushbo, who are either totally ignorant of how female bodies work, or have special problems of their own, the more sex you have, the more money you must spend on contraceptives (or other aids). So Sandra needing “so much” contraceptives means she is having “so much sex”.

Totally ignoring, incidentally, that Fluke was testifying about someone else entirely, who needed birth control medication for a reason totally unrelated to birth control.

Well, sure, it looks bad for the slut shamers when you phrase it like that, if you look closer (so close that the facts become a spiteful blur), Fluke was really demanding that the taxpayer subsidize her voracious sexual appetite.

“And he bizarrely claims that President Obama calling her was “the definition of civilization decline.””.

Nah, that’s not civilization in decline. Civilization in decline would be more like someone who disagrees with a lying,. fucking sociopathic piece-of-shit like yourself puttin’ a .308 through your brainpan from 300 yards out–y’know, the sorta thing you and your asshole buddies recommend for doctors you don’t like. THAT would show some decline in civility–pardon me for thinking that it might not always be a terrible thing, Gary.

Ah yes, Ms. Fluke is promiscuous, but Sarah Palin (knocked up before she was pregnant), Cindy McCain (stole a married man from his wife), and Callista Gingrich (took a job in Congress arranged by her lover so she could be closer, thereby accepting money in exchange for sexual favors) are beacons of Conservative womanhood.

    Thank you Gretchen, @3.

I have been pounding that drum for years and hardly anyone else seemed put off by it.

As a matter of cause and effect, knocking-up typically precedes pregnancy, yes.

I went back and watched the Fluke testimony following the Right wing chorus of smear that followed it. I’ve rarely seen anything so detached from reality as the attacks on that woman.

    Gretchen @3,
Are you telling me that I shouldn’t be trying to improve my vocabulary by studying porn sites? All those wasted hours.

  12. oranje says

Just about the last thing I ever want to hear is Gary Bauer talking about sex. Nightmare fuel, that.

  13. tuibguy says

@velociraptor – I found this, and there might me be more out there on it, but I don’t know that he ever had an affair with her. Those even more prudish than he were uncomfortable with him spending work time alone with a 26-year-old staffer and never were there any witnesses to improper behavior,

It may have been a scandal because women and men are supposed to avoid each other if they are not married to each other, just to protect themselves from “catching teh sexy.”
