Barber: Ginsburg Brought ‘Shame to America’

You knew the moment that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg officiated a same-sex wedding that the bigots were going to absolutely lose their minds over it. Matt Barber and Daniel Schmid, come on down. You’re the next contestants on The Hyperbolic Overreaction is Wrong. Barber says Ginsburg has “brought shame to America” and that same-sex marriage means the “criminalization of Christianity.”

    “criminalization of Christianity.”

It couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of folks.

The law says nothing about Christianity. This comment says a great deal, however, about those nuts who have assumed the mantle of Christianity to push for unequal treatment for a long-suffering cohort of our citizens.

“It is wrong for government to define what marriage is.”
But as long as the government defines it as one woman and one man, then that is ok. In fact we keep yelling at the top of our lungs for government to define it our way.

…The bigots were going to absolutely lose their minds over it.

How do they keep losing something over and over, when they’ve never had a grip on it in the first place?

Good for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Now perhaps the world will forget that one single time I flew the bird in my high school year book. I am finally free to get on with my life. Free of the shame I once wrought upon my country tis of thee.

I sympathize with Barber and Schmidt. I hate it, too, when Supreme Court justices do something in their official capacity that has absolutely no effect on my life.

If marriage is “outside the realm of government,” then saying it is and has always been “one man and one woman” becomes even more wrong.

Not that this would matter to those whose wrongness meters are already pegged.

OT: The first time I played this, among the videos that came up after it ended was one showing Obama at the podium backed by Tim Curry’s character from Legend. I had to see what that was about. What it was about was playing “Yes we can” backward and claiming that “Yes we can” = “Thank you Satan.”

    “so called marriage” —check
    “shame on America” —-check
    “one man one woman” —-check
    “criminalize christianity” —check

reference to Bork —-obscure so I think that was just for the powerball powerplay

and caseloweraz – indeed what is up with that video?

caseloweraz – to be fair I downloaded a copy of the speech and reversed that section myself and it does not look like they significantly altered the reverse audio — it really does sound like yes we can becomes thank you satan…..although I think that the reverse audio phenomenon has been shown to just be audio pareidolia. I’m surprised this didnt get more right wing nuttery.

If marriage is “outside the realm of government,” why do they care if government allows it?

Oh, sorry … I was acting as if these people were rational.

I promise I will bake a cake with a file in it for the first 100 xians who get arrested and thrown in jail for their beliefs. And I will bake 100 cakes without files for the first Xian pastor who Is forced to perform a same-sex marriage.
