Dumbest Thing Said About Weiner Scandal

The latest flareup of sex scandals around Anthony Weiner has prompted much idiocy, including from Weiner himself. But the single dumbest thing anyone has said on the subject is from Brooke Goldstein, who says Weiner is not sexually attracted to his wife Huma Abedin because she’s a Muslim terrorist trying to destroy us.

By the way, does anyone remember a few years ago when the right wing smear on Abedin was that she was allegedly Hillary Clinton’s lesbian lover?

To be fair, Ed, she is a Muslin bent on destroying America and Freedom and America. They all are. Why? Because they hate us for our Freedom*.

    * …to baselessly slander them.

These people must have flunked conspiracy theory 101. A respectable conspiracy theorist would posit that Anthony Weiner is attracted to Huma Abedin — in fact that her mystical Muslim marital methods have got him wrapped around her finger.

There are times, however, when she and her amatory aptitude must be absent. Perhaps these are the times when she meets with her colleagues to secretly plan new destructive tactics. What’s he supposed to do at those times, when the need arises?

Seriously, has she not divorced him yet? I mean I know they have kids together and all and I also know that sometime weird shit happens in long term relationships but seriously why would a woman of her obvious caliber not just walk out on him taking everything he had in the process. I doubt there is a divorce court judge in the world that wouldn’t be on her side in the process.

Really, why does his last name have to be Weiner?

I can’t even get started with this before falling over in peals of laughter. And naming it the “Weiner Scandal” or “WeinerGate”. I’m sorry, but that shit’s hilarious to my inner 12-year-old.

Of course, that’s not a good thing for a candidate for public office.

How the fuck does someone get away with saying stuf like that on a fucking News broadcast? Seriously, here in the UK they would be forced to resign. You simply could not get away with such slanderous, pseudo-racist bullshit. What the fuck?

You’re making the mistake of confusing “Fox News” with actual “news”. It’s owner, Rupert Murdoch, is well established in the UK as well of course.

    @erichoug,

She gave an interview in which she answered that question is some detail. I just scanned it, but it seemed that her points were quite well reasoned.

Indeed. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if, in some speculative future, FOX was able to fight off a slander suit with the defense that the legal “reasonable person” would never interpret their pundits as making serious claims.

Apparently, she is a ‘human rights attorney’. Up is down, black is white, war is peace.

And of course she is doubling and tripling down on her twitter account. Apparently, everyone who disagrees is ‘extreme left’.

  11. bahrfeldt says

The comments over at Yahoo reiterate the Hillary/ Huma lesbian love connection, in between reminding us of Weiner’s detracting “hooked nose”, Huma’s membership in the “Mooslin Brotherhood”, Hillary arranging for the murders of her and Bill’s rivals and threats and the idiocy of New Yorkers for living in a town that bans soda. However, many of the contributors seem to be having trouble remembering if the infidel running for mayor is Weiner or Spitzer.

Fox news seems to be having an especially bad week.

You know, I realize this show is on late at night and the panelists are probably half drunk most of the time, but does this person have any sense or decency at all? Seriously?

  13. Don Williams says

    1) Hmmm. I wonder if Wiener’s repeated and public humiliation of Huma is a Bibi Netanyahu Psyop against the Palestinians in the runup to the peace talks?

Somewhat like the news stories about Monica Lewinski playing hide-the-cigar with Wild Bill Clinton while Yasser Arafat cooled his heels in the outer office.

@Eric (#9): Indeed, I think they’ve already done so. I’ll see if I can find the reference on which that’s based. It’s something about them not being obligated to tell the truth.

The basis was a suit filed against WTVT, a Fox affiliate in Tampa FL by Jane Akre and Steve Wilson after the station, apparently influenced by Monsanto, refused to air their story about a Monsanto product.

    Wikipedia has the history.

    Re Don Williams @ #14

Back in his Matthew Yglesias days, ole Don was pushing the conspiracy theory that Monica Lewinsky was a plant of the Mossad who was placed in the White House at the express order of one Benjamin Netanyahu to inveigle President Clinton into a sexual relationship which would subject him to blackmail.

    SLC at 22:
    1) SLC evidently doesn’t realize that a number of journals here in the US and in Israel were chuckling at how
the Lewinsky affair kneecapped Bill Clinton’s attempts to push the Likud into making a deal with the Palestinians. And speculating whether Monica had decided to ..er..take one for the team. A la Queen Esther.

    2) But since I know that the International Zionist Conspiracy is really run by the Rich Big Oil goyim, I figured
    Jerry Falwell was behind it:

    http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/features/2005/12/rapture200512

“No one played that card more forcefully than Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu, who as prime minister used the Christian right to fend off pressure from the Clinton administration to proceed with the peace process.

On a visit to Washington, D.C., in 1998, Netanyahu hooked up with Jerry Falwell at the Mayflower Hotel the night before his scheduled meeting with Clinton.

“I put together 1,000 people or so to meet with Bibi and he spoke to us that night,” recalls Falwell. “It was all planned by Netanyahu as an affront to Mr. Clinton.”

That evening, Falwell promised Netanyahu that he would mobilize pastors all over the country to resist the return of parts of the occupied West Bank territory to the Palestinians. Televangelist John Hagee, who gave $1 million to the United Jewish Appeal the following month, told the crowd that the Jewish return to the Holy Land signaled the “rapidly approaching … final moments of history,” then brought them to a frenzy chanting, “Not one inch!”—a reference to how much of the West Bank should be transferred to Palestinian control.

The next day, Netanyahu met with Clinton at the White House. “Bibi told me later,” Falwell recalls, “that the next morning Bill Clinton said, ‘I know where you were last night.’ The pressure was really on Netanyahu to give away the farm in Israel. It was during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.… Clinton had to save himself, so he terminated the demands [to relinquish West Bank territory] that would have been forthcoming during that meeting, and would have been very bad for Israel.”
