Another Bigoted Pat Robertson Screed

Pat Robertson delivered one of his classic moronic screeds about how gays are out to destroy the church, the military, marriage, businesses and the entire country to get affirmation for “the way they perform sex acts.” And then it gets even dumber.

Wait. Is their way special or something? I thought The Gays just did butt stuff. That seems like mighty thin gruel to destroy society over.
Personally, and I know this won’t be popular…I may even lose some friends over this, but, personally, now this is just me speaking for myself here, I’m against people destroying this country just to get people to affirm “the way they do sex”, so I stand with Pat Robertson against these terrible people and their terrible plan, knowing that both Pat and myself and, indeed, many many other people, face an uphill battle fighting this thoroughly and completely imaginary foe.

The real question is “Will human empathy and justice prompt the majority to stand with minorities against a bigoted church”. The answer should be an emphatic “Yes!”

They are willing to destroy the military if need be…

Yeah, destroy the military. Not a problem. Easy-peasy.

And then it gets even dumber.

No. Not possible. Its like trying to measure a temperature lower than absolute zero or finding a congresscritter dumber than Louis Gohmert. At some point you simply reach the last turtle and you cannot go any lower.

Well, when your entire sense of identity is tied up in being a male asshole, and your entire worldview is based on male assholes like you being the foundation of civilization…

Thanks — I’ve been wondering why the likes of Barber, Staver, Perkins, LaBarbera, et al. were so obsessed with gay sex. Yours is the best explanation I’ve seen.

I’m going to burn in Hell? Bitch please, before I was born I was forged in the heart of a supernova. I’m not too worried about a little lake of fire after I die.

  8. Taz says

In case you didn’t watch the whole thing, Pat explains that it’s all because they love gays so much and want them to go to heaven instead of hell. Then he says:

But we are a people who love. And yet now, your love is going to put you in jail.

No irony meter in the world can withstand something like that.

Okay, I don’t believe in fate, but I can’t shake this horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that you’re tempting it.

Because everyone knows the way you get people to approve of your lifestyle is to destroy their institutions. Its the “I break your toys so you’ll love me” approach.

Now that I think about it, Pat’s gays are pretty similar to Pat’s God.

  11. Michael Heath says

Perhaps the most moronic sub-screed here is one of the most popular assumptions conservative Christians promote, that’s where Robertson states, “If you’re a Christian, than you have to believe the Bible”. That idiocy and delusion is a predominate reason Christians are incoherent on so many topics.

When I was a kid the ‘the house built on sand’ bible story immediately stuck with me*. When I compared that to the obviously defective methods Christians used to avoid scrutinizing their factual claims, it was a strong indicator to me that the story was both good advice and a good argument that Christianity probably wasn’t true.

*Altemeyer’s work on those raised to be authoritarians who reject that indoctrination explained why. He found a subset of authoritarians’ children bought into the value of honesty well beyond what’s normal, considered the truth claims of Christianity, and found them mostly false or lacking both evidence and reason.

    Beat me to it.

That statement leapt out at me and slapped me with a wet haddock. Holy Provable Projections, Batman!
