Gordo Thinks Same-Sex Marriages are Orgies?

Gordon Klingenschmitt has a head full of crazy ideas. Here he works himself up into a lather over a same-sex wedding held at West Point, which he says defiled the chapel it took place in because “Christian place of worship should not be desecrated by acts of sodomy that are consecrated on Saturday which deprive all of our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines of a sacred worship space on Sunday.” Does he think part of the ceremony is sex on the altar?

If sex was part of a church service, then attendance might increase.

Uh, have you seen any news articles about the RCC in the last 20 years?

  3. Gregory in Seattle:

As I recall, that marriage was between two women. I don’t know of many lesbians who engage in sodomy. And even if they did, I’m pretty sure that sodomy was not a part of the ceremony.

So what is this idiot blathering about again?

There’s a creepy visual. And once again, the most ridiculous gay-porn movie plots “come” from the most “lathered-up” gay-haters. Don’t drop your soap, Gordo!

So…did Gordo’s straight wedding include acts of sodomy on the altar? If so, he had a crazier wedding ceremony than a lot of people, gay or straight; and if not, this is an extreme case of imagining the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

I’m pretty sure Gordo and his ilk define that word to mean just about any sex act they disapprove of. (And yes, oral sex and penetration by objects other than a penis are “sodomy” by even the most limited definition of that word, and yes, lesbians do those things too.)

” I don’t know of many lesbians who engage in sodomy. ”

    Sodomy: n. … oral sex …

Betcha some of them do ;-)

    Gregory in Seatle@3:

It depends on the state. Some states define sodomy as including both anal and oral sex. Probably a lot more lesbians practice the former.

Since lusting in your heart for another while married is the same as adultery, lusting for your same sex partner is the same as sodomy. Of course, since having any sort of sex other than in the missionary position is sodomy, there are few, if any, marriages that don’t consecrate sodomy of the heart.

  9. uzza:

Rats, Raging Bee beat me to it. Interesting factoid; by all accounts sex on the altar was a time honored tradition in Pagan Arabia, before the Muslims came along a spoiled everything.

When I was just entering adolescence, I was briefly under the impression that “orgy” was a nickname for “orgasm”. Perhaps Klingenschmitt has the sexual knowledge of an 11-year-old boy?

“Christian place of worship should not be desecrated by acts of sodomy that are consecrated on Saturday which deprive all of our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines of a sacred worship space on Sunday.”

What? I didn’t watch the video; does this mean that the wedding took place on Saturday? And that the chapel wasn’t usable on Sunday? I’m pretty sure a bit of incense in the evening would purify it all over again. Or is he worried about stepping on the semen stains in the carpet?

  12. Bronze Dog:

I thought orgies were outdoor funerals or something, from “orgos” meaning “open.”

  13. Anthony K:

For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.–Matthew 18:20.

Says nothing about how sodomy-free the where was the night before.

The Chapel on any military installation is NOT a church full-time – only when church services are being performed. Outside of those hours it’s just another building, used for multiple secular purposes.

He was a Chaplain – he knows this damn well (though I’m sure he ignored that regulation like so many others he ignored during his ignoble career).

  15. Raging Bee:

uzza: I’m pretty sure that practice of sex on the altar was meant to ensure that a) the marriage was truly consummated, and b) when the bride gets pregnant, everyone can be sure it was by her husband, not by some stranger who would only hose up the bloodline being perpetuated.

  16. Stacy:

Then he prays for Gawd to smite his enemies:

Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked…Arise, Lord, in your anger.

That’s what you get, for “consecrating sodomy” on the Holy Altar. Self-righteous Christians praying God to break your teeth.

    No.

Re: all the discussion as to what does or does not constitute sodomy, I think the important thing is that everyone is talking and thinking and getting in a lather about sodomy, sweet, sweet sodomy, and we have Dr Chaps to thank for that! Thanks, Dr Chaps!

  20. exdrone:

Acts of sodomy? What’s he talking about? Everyone knows that stops when you get married.

Yeah, time to move on to the more important things, such as planning mortgages, ditching your career, being constantly exhausted, etc. etc. Oh one might dream of sodomy, but then so does Klingenschmitt, obviously.

  22. escuerd:

I’d think that if the chapel is on base that it’s owned by the U.S. government, and that their religious liberty does not include the liberty to decide who else gets to use it.

    Help, help! We’re being oppressed!

  25. Erp:

He has also forgotten that some chaplains have no trouble with same sex marriages; the West Point one was overseen by Colonel J. Wesley Smith, an Episcopal chaplain. Even some whose denomination prohibits them presiding still carry out their duties to all members of the military by arranging that couples can get married. Their denominations may not be so tolerant; one chaplain, Colonel Timothy Wagoner, a Southern Baptist arranged such a wedding and attended. His denomination either revoked or threatened to revoke his endorsement which would have led to an automatic discharge from the chaplaincy except he switched to a different Baptist group and got their endorsement.

So ‘his’ church is declaring their buggery as holy eh? Nice of Gordo to give us a ‘heads up’
[If the sodomy is improperly done it would be 'desecration'; if done properly it wouldn’t, as it is (by definition) 'consecrated' (but only on Saturdays)]..

So it’s OK if it’s done on Friday?

You mean they aren’t orgies? Well, I guess I’m canceling my RSVP then…
