Lawyer Sues Apple for Porn Addiction

Walter Olson to the white courtesy phone: An attorney in Tennessee is suing Apple for causing his addiction to porn by not making their computers to block porn sites. I really wish I were making this up, but you can read the bizarre complaint here.

Genesis is not the only example of an apple leading humans to sin, if you believe a porn-addicted lawyer from Tennessee, Chris Sevier. On June 19, 2013, he filed a complaint against Apple for letting him access porn from his MacBook.

His complaint runs 50 pages, is rambling, and filed with misspellings and inaccuracies. In it, he writes that he intended to go to the social media site Facebook.com but instead accidentally typed ‘f***kbook.com’. He then found himself at a porn site which led him to his addiction to porn…

Sevier, 36, is representing himself in court. He complains that the porn sites he visited caused him depression, negativity, and also affected his work because of his addiction.

As it turns out, though, Sevier’s problems go much deeper than this:

Less than a week after filing his complaint against Apple, Servier made headlines for a very different reason than his complaints that Apple’s negligence led to his addiction to porn.

Sevier was arrested for allegedly stalking country music star John Rich, according to a report in The Tennessean. Mark “Chris” Sevier was arrested and charged with aggravated stalking for repeatedly sending emails to Rich, according to the arrest warrant.

In one of the emails, Sevier included a picture showing himself draped in an American flag and covered in a substance “believed to be representing blood.” The warrant for Sevier’s arrest also said he had stalked Rich for years. It wasn’t the first time he’d had a run-in with stalking the country music singer. In the past, Rich has filed two previous restraining orders.

He is so clearly disturbed that the Tennessee Supreme Court has made his status inactive due to “mental infirmity or illness.” The guy needs psychological help, not frivolous lawsuits.

    “filed with misspellings and inaccuracies.”

Why would it be filed with those categories?

It should obviously go under ‘F’ with ‘Flatulence”.

…he intended to go to the social media site Facebook.com but instead accidentally typed ‘f***kbook.com’.

What? Is that some kind of Freudian tits?

I guess this guy will join Orly Taitz, Larry Klayman, and Matt Stever amongst the most incompetent lawyers in America.

Given that Sevier is an attorney, it seems to me that this situation obviously calls for a Rule 11 motion. It’s really not appropriate for idiots to clog overworked federal courts with this kind of garbage.

    Two things:

1 – On a standard keyboard, the letters U and K aren’t anywhere near the letters in the word ‘face’. Though admittedly, I often type the wrong word when I’m distracted, which leads me to:

2 – If you’re accidentally typing f***kbook instead of facebook, you might already have porn on your mind.

    Also, lol.

    Obligatory fool/client.

He’s got a long way to go to show he has the staying power of those giants among the competency-challenged.

I’d say Chris Sevier has a pretty strong case. After all, the Iowa Supreme Court (twice) recently found that when a woman was fired by her male boss because he found her attractive, it didn’t represent gender discrimination. Clearly, the burden is on Apple not to present appealing temptations to a pervert.

Let’s hope the Judge on the stalking case makes an order for him to receive proper treatment.

Also Fuckbook does not appear to be a site where you enter the address and get straight to porn instead it goes to a sign in page so even if porn were instantly addictive he took steps beyond mistyping one address to find it on that site.

I believe that there is filtering software available for Macs that would filter out porn sites.

It’s America. The authorities will just sit back and watch until he goes broke – then book him for vagrancy.

Surely you have enough internets by now, so let’s just say you’ve won a shiny new…bacon.

…aggravated stalking for repeatedly sending emails…

Clearly Sevier should also sue Apple for making it possible for him to send emails. It’s the only (ir)rational thing to do.

And a new internet meme is born…

Wait, there’s porn on the internet?! *click* O.o

    I’ll be in my bunk.

Presumably, he is representing himself because he isn’t allowed to represent other clients and other lawyers don’t want to take this case. It’s a match made in heaven.

Ironically, if you actually search for “f***book.com”, you end up at Facebook.
