Glenn Compares Anti-Gay Bigotry to MLK

Gary Glenn is the head of the American Family Association of Michigan. As such, he is predictably a bigot and, quite frankly, not all that bright. Here he is claiming that if the Supreme Court strikes down laws banning gay marriage, state governments should ignore it — just like Martin Luther King would want them to do.

“With the heritage we have from the freedom fighters and the Freedom Riders who came before us. God forgive us if we fail to stand. But if we do, as Martin Luther King said we should do to fulfill our Christian duty, we will threaten those, we will over come those who threaten our faith and freedom. And we will be proud to stand with you in that struggle for our faith [and] we will be blessed for doing so.”

These comparisons are so utterly moronic. Martin Luther King was fighting for freedom and equality. Bigots like Glenn are fighting against freedom and equality. As usual, when the wingnuts talk about freedom what they mean is the freedom to oppress others.

Because one thing we all remember about King is how he framed his vision of liberty for minorities as denying liberty for other minorities.

Frankly, if they just take the nonviolent methodology to heart and get the rest of MLK entirely wrong, I’ll be fine with that. You want to sit down in the middle of the street to protest gay marriage, then go to jail and write letters explaining your cause, be my guest. Its the bigots who decide they’re going to show their political disagreement via firearm use that I’m far more worried about.

Give it about a decade and the dead heads will claim anti discrimination rulings were all their idea, just like they did with the abolition of segregation and slavery, in fact exactly like Glenn is trying to boast here, that MLK was from their ideas and ideology, he was one of them according the the sub-text.

Problem they have this time around…the in’ta tubes tell a far more accurate story!…and it is doubtful that content will ever disappear like their copious propaganda from that time.

Oh yeah and if push comes to semi-automatics…

But if we do, as Martin Luther King said we should do to fulfill our Christian duty, we will threaten those, we will over come those who threaten our faith and freedom.

And it will be all MLK fault if a few ghey’s get deaded !

I’m pretty sure MLK was also really big into states’ rights too, wasn’t he? And, um, he hated the Supreme Court. I’m pretty sure he agreed with me on everything — and I don’t have to read anything he said to justify that assumption. Why, he’s just like Jesus!

We will forever remember how valiantly King fought to maintain the status quo and not upset long-held traditions about how different groups should be treated.

Interesting (and scary) Freudian slip there.

Not so much Freudian, seems the bigots have dropped all pretence to allusion now they want blood so it is more like a plan B invocation for a pre-determined concerted plan of direct action.
Anyone from the gay community that dies at the hands of ‘activists’ will only have themselves to blame.

His audience are just being dog whistled, oh and they are to bring things that they can threaten with…jeebus dislikes his disciples not being tooled up to rumble!
