Beck’s Man in the Moon Trailer

In case you’re waiting with great anticipation to see what Glenn Beck’s much-hyped “man in the moon” 4th of July extravaganza, which he claims is going to change the course of the country and the way we celebrate the 4th forever, is going to be like, here’s the trailer. It appears to be just a tour of all the Bible myths, like the Tower of Babel and Noah’s Ark, along with Beck’s melodramatic narration.

I’m not, but should have been…

But did you notice early on, one of the scientismists smokes himself some opium? And then invents guns or something?

Yep. Scientismists can’t do anything without their opium.

Yeah, but I think I’ll continue to stick with Dark Side of the Moon.

Conservatives are incapable of creating art. Instead, they churn out propaganda.

Typical for Beck, it’s soooooooo deep, it’s stupid, or maybe the other way around.

You can do that already, sans the Mormon:
    Welcome to Ave Maria Grotto

    Cullman, Alabama
Known throughout the world as “Jerusalem in Miniature,” is a beautifully landscaped, four-acre park designed to provide a natural setting for the 125 miniature reproductions of some of the most famous historic buildings and shrines of the world…

I vaguely remember some bit from his Going Galt fantasy city where he was implicitly going to enforce his specific vision of how the Fourth should be celebrated. And have heavy building restrictions to encourage front yard socialization or something. And ban certain free enterprises such as The Gap from setting up shop in town for not conforming to his fashion sense. Freedom!

Glenn Beck – the man with delusions of grandeur and megalomania only equaled by the likes of Kim Jong-Il/Kim Il-Sung.

WTF. Is this what it looks like to a Mormon on acid?

I’m dissapointed that this film includes neither Andy Kaufman nor Michael Stipe.

Holy crap! Why on earth did I click “play”? And where’s all the Mor(m)on mythology? Surely he’ll have to include that?

Damn it! Dexeron beat me to the REM reference!

    (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah…)

Notice the animals walking into a whirlwind? I suppose that’s how Glenn thinks they were scattered over the earth. Imagine the logistics nightmare. “No, no, I said, ALL the marsupials go on the next whirlwind so they can get to Australia. Damn it, now we are going to have opossums in South America! “

Quite a bit of Noah’s Ark imagery. He’s not going to do a promotion for Ken Ham’s Creation Museum, is he?

Is there a music equivalent of the Razzies? I ask, as this looks like it it belongs there as a ‘worst music video’ nominee. Or winner.

I still think Beck is the late Andy Kauffman in disguise. Like Kauffman, his life is one big bizarre performance art piece. This Man in Moon thing just cements it for me.

Wait. He’s got a moon trailer?

I am still holding out hope that this whole Man in the Moon event is a setup to Andy Kauffman to appear in public for the first time since faking his own death. Andy will reveal that he has been Glen Beck’s writing partner for the last fifteen years and that the “Beck” persona is no more real than “Colbert” or “Borat”.

which he claims is going to change the course of the country and the way we celebrate the 4th forever,

So Glenn Beck is conducting a War on Independence Day?

The lawyer for Georges Méliès’s estate called. He wants to know if Beck is going to make the royalty payments up front or in installments.

The first part of that trailer — before Glenn Beck’s mug appears and ruins it — is actually pretty cool, in terms of art direction and imagery anyway. Kind of a waste, given the subject matter it’s promoting.

I actually burst out laughing when Beck appeared with his weepy nonsense — I don’t think that was the effect they were going for.

I think if you gave Timecube a large video production budget, you might get something that makes about as much sense as this.

Being a creative person tasked with working for beck would be really hard, methinks.
