Daubenmire’s Preemptive Martyrdom

First class looney tune “Coach” Dave Daubenmire warns his viewers that they need to be prepared to go to jail because that is coming for Christians. Because if you can’t find a reason to claim persecution, you just have to project it into the future. And then it magically becomes real.

    Daubenmire’s Preemptive Martyrdom

More like Daubenmire’s desperate plea for money.

Guys was chased out or pushed out of two jobs, one in the public schools and one at a private xian school.

I don’t know what he is doing for money these days, but it seems to be babbling like a loon in videos.

It must be awful, just awful to not quite have as much privilege as they used to. That’s like jail. Martyrdom isn’t what it used to be.

I watched the entire video and it’s very strange. The general issue of civil disobedience and what we’re willing to go to jail for is a valid one. But his application made no sense.

At one point he compares the civil rights movement with the gay rights movement and says “there is NO comparison.” And then he reveals that both groups DID have something in common: their members were willing to go to jail for what they believed.

Um … didn’t he just admit that homosexuals used to be persecuted? They were jailed simply for being homosexual? And civil disobedience helped change this?

So where the heck does he get off suddenly assuming that gay people are the authorities in power who will literally jail people for preaching that homosexuality is a sin? Payback time?

I can’t wait to see his reaction to today’s ruling on DOMA and Prop 8…

Sastra, I’ve got to answer this: yes. That’s exactly what he fears. it’s basic projection: they’re all terrified of what happens when the people they’ve been shitting on forever start having the reins of power? They’re quite sure that, because they view their bigoted selves as completely natural, as soon as the power group isn’t running things, they’ll all be put in camps or lynched or whatever. They’re quite certain that we’ll do to them exactly what they’ve done to us.

Because if they believed that people could actually exist and not oppress their former masters, they’d have to admit that they’re horrible people. If people who’ve been shit on can still manage not to be horrible people, then that means the bigots were the horrible people all along.

There’s no way they’re going to allow that belief to take root, so they fight as hard as they can to fend off what they’re sure will be an anti-them crusade.

After all, it’s what they’d do.
