Allen West for President? Yes, Please.

The last person to go from the House of Representatives to the White House was James Garfield, but Allen West thinks he may be able to make the jump even after losing his reelection bid after one term in the House. But only if the American public asks him to serve.

Former Florida Rep. Allen West revealed that he is considering a run for the presidency in 2016 on Sean Hannity’s radio program Tuesday.

Colonel West, who lost last year after a prolonged post-election battle over voter fraud, said that he will make himself “available to run” for any office he is called to serve by the American people, the National Review reported.

He discussed the Benghazi and IRS scandals with the radio host, saying the country needs the “right type of leadership,” the National Review reported.

“I don’t think we should ever elect someone who wants to be president,” the Republican said. “We should elect someone who is called to be president.”

I’m always amused by politicians who claim to only be running for office under protest, only agreeing to do so after the American people “call on them to serve.” In what form does that calling come? A voice from a burning bush? A public opinion poll? No one ever says in advance what they will accept as the authentic voice of the people, of course. That allows them to pretend to be oh-so-humble, running not because they want to but because of their immense sense of honor for the will of the people, who have come to him hat in hand and just begged him to save them and the country.

But I’m all for West running for president. It would be enormously entertaining. Maybe I can even get one of his advisers to bet me $2500 that he’ll win like I did with Herman Cain. I have as good a chance of being president as Allen West.

I’m not even sure that West is crazier then Rick Santorum, who the lame stream media treats as a serious candidate.

… that even he conceeded wasn’t enough (if any) to make a difference in his losing. They seem to forget that part.

But I’m all for West running for president.

Has he set up a website to count the calls he is getting to serve? Maybe we could give it the PZ poll treatment.

Were you able to collect on that bet?

So Allen thinks America needs the right kind of leadership?
He’s certainly a candidate way out to the right, so I’m guessing he’ll be hanging around the phone waiting for America’s call*.

    * Well, one or two rich, old, white guys (read: Republicans) to call, and tell him they represent the will of ‘the real America’, anyway. He’s gotta have a fig-leaf to cover that raging, wrong-headed, arrogant ambition.

At first glance, I read that headline as “Adam West for President.” He would just get into a Dig’em scandal.

There may be something to the idea that the people who would be best at ruling will never actually seek office. The idea is mentioned in the Hitch hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and at least one other scifi novel the name of which I forget. The Hitch hikers solution of finding a pure sceptic who doubts everything including the existence of an external world would certainly be interesting.

YEAH! WHAT AMERICA NEEDS IS A GOOD, STRONG, MORAL CONSTITUTIONAL CONSERVATIVE TO HOLD DOWN SUSPECTS AND MOCK EXECUTIONATE THEM!

Think there’s any chance he could get Sarah to run as VP.

Only sadder thing than West/Bachman is they would still get 30-40% of the vote.

West/Gohmert would probably be even more entertaining than West/Bachmann.
