Wingnuts: Russian Authoritarians Are ‘Christian Saviors’

First we had Bradlee Dean saying that Muslims who put gay people to death are “more moral than even the American Christians.” Now we have Larry Jacobs of the World Congress of Families — no families with gay people allowed, of course — claiming that Russia not only a model for what we should do in America but are he “Christian saviors” of the world for their anti-gay laws.

Jacobs: The Russians might be the Christian saviors to the world; at the UN they really are the ones standing up for these traditional values of family and faith.

Wiles: Well look the city government of Moscow passed a 100 year ban on gay parades.

Jacobs: And the homosexual propaganda—the law in the Russian Duma it passed on first reading, it would ban propaganda to minors, preventing them from corrupting children. What a great idea and the rest of Europe is going the other way, legalizing LGBT propaganda.

Wiles, of course, is one of those conspiracy nuts who thinks the government is going to round up Christians and put them in concentration camps if they say anything anti-gay (somehow he’s still a free man, however). Yet he endorses crushing the free speech rights of equality advocates. Consistency? Silly rabbit, consistency is for rational people. Oh, and then there’s this:

Wiles: We could do a 24 hour talkathon on the attack on families around the world; do you believe that there is a coordinated plan, attack, war on the basic concept of families?

Jacobs: Absolutely. Obviously there are some at high levels that are quite aware of the strategy, but even those that aren’t are implicitly participating in this strategy because everything that the far-left promotes from homosexual marriage to radical environmentalism to a socialist/communist approach to big government, all of these things require the breakdown of the family. The family, I think it was Chesterton that said that the family is the only natural unit that reproduces itself and therefore it is always a threat to the state, it is always a threat to freedom, to totalitarianism; it promotes freedom and liberty. Wherever you see radical leftists, radical environmentalists, radical feminists and radical LGBT groups all together it’s because they have an active agenda to break the family apart. Rabbi Daniel Lapin said this, it’s not just a Christian concept but it’s Judeo-Christian and it goes across various cultures. Rabbi Lapin said it’s not that they’re stupid and don’t understand what the family stands for, that’s the very reason that they’re against the family because it radically opposes their leftist agenda.

Would you like a little crazy dressing with that word salad?

This Chesterton guy sounds more ridiculous every time his fanboys mention him.

    environmentalism is anti-family?

Environmentalism is in the bible, ffs. Well, I guess so is anti-environmentalism. Because you know, consistency is a bitch.

How expansively Judeo-Christian. They’ll go back to excluding Eastern Orthodox from “Christianity” again next week.

Environmentalism is considered “anti-family” by the Christian Right because of its concern over overpopulation. “Pro-family” Christians are suppose to crap out child after child without any regard to whether the planet can support them (God will provide, after all, in this life or the next).

If you ever want to see one of these peoples head explode… just ask them, how will “destroying the family” secure the goal of environmentalism?

I never thought I would live to see the day when Christian fanatics are praising Russia as an ideal Christian state.

This idea that allowing gay people to marry (or even live) necessarily destroys the family reminds me of the Totalitarian Principle from The Once and Future King: “everything not forbidden is mandatory”. I’m surprised they don’t consider Venn diagrams to be blasphemous, since they promote the heretical idea that two separate entities can have overlapping characteristics. For example traditional families and non-traditional families both being valid: that requires a level of intellectual sophistication that they simply can’t manage.

Whereas a theocratic/dominionist approach to big government is just fine.

Don’t stand too near these guys if you ever point out to them that Vladimir Putin was a KGB officer, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before he resigned in 1991. The explosion of their heads may result in dangerous shrapnel.

In other news, the Putins announced this afternoon that they just divorced. That fits him right in with the fuckken born agains.

Not so surprising. They were only against commie dictatorships. The non-commie dictators were always their friends. Russia now is just the kind of authortarian state that would make them cream in their pants … as long as it was right wing. The reason they keep projecting the authortanian wish onto liberals is that they think the left is just like them, only on the wrong side.

I’d make it tougher than that. A century is awfully long for a parade.

Welcome to Planet Wingnuttia in the 21st century. Russia is their ideal authoritarian state because they’ve gone from an officially atheist country to one where the church dictates policy. Likewise, China is now their ideal melding of corporate power and authoritarian government, which is why you’ll sometimes here them express some admiration for that country as well.

Basically, their goal is to create a situation where church, state, and private industry merge into one authoritarian oligarchy where the masses are kept in line with a combination of sexual guilt and worship of the wealth.

Oh, and everyone who is white has a gun.

#4: The fundies will support other brands of religion when they agree with the fundie talking points. They kissed a lot of Mormon butt to try to get Mitt elected. They still kiss a lot of Catholic butt. What the Mormons and Catholics and, probably, the Jews who support them don’t realize is that, if the fundies ever get control, those groups will wind up in the same camps as the atheists, Muslims, and other “non-true-Christians.”

What is this “family” of which they speak? I cannot figure out what it is that they’re talking about.

Well, there’s certainly a war on my family. They don’t want me having sex, they don’t want me getting married, they don’t want me adopting kids, in fact they don’t want me anywhere near kids, they don’t want even any family like the one I would have represented in any media or explained in any education curriculum ever…

Yet another example of a Fundagelical clearly not considering all of the implications of what they are saying.

Seems an increasingly desperate number of those with a religiotardic persuasion seem to be imitating a junk-yard dog with two or more dicks these days…no idea which one to lick first.

The Muslims and their theocratic draconism and penchant for waging jihad against non-believers and a death penalty that seems to fall somewhat short of burning alive for the most part, but even that is a line which is crossed without much in the way of consequence these days….they tend to bellow for it quite regularly any-way’s.

And now the ‘ol enemy dem commy inspired Russkies are out doing them for christofacism.

The envy is apparent and they are severely conflicted…poor dears are so confused!

“that Russia not only a model for what we should do in America but are he “Christian saviors” of the world for their anti-gay laws.” <–I'm having a grammar issue. Should there be an "is" after Russia and the 'are' between but and he removed?

to the content: Oh won't someone please think of the families! /pearl clutch. /hate much?

Russia is their ideal authoritarian state because they’ve gone from an officially atheist country to one where the church dictates policy.

…and the government has neither the power nor the will to protect people from either gangsters or legal plutocrats, and everyone who can is scrambling to suck the land dry of whatever resources they find. Which makes it an ideal libertarian state as well.

Also, has anyone else noticed how we’re not exactly celebrating the demise of the USSR anymore? That’s probably because no one wants to admit that right-wing Christians and capitalists haven’t really made things that much better.
