Kokesh Calls for Armed Revolution

Adam Kokesh, the unhinged nutball who is organizing a march on Washington by more than 5000 armed people on July 4, is now going even further and calling for an armed march on all 50 state capitals to begin a “new American revolution” by dissolving the federal government.

Bachmann Won’t Run for Reelection

Someone I know from Minnesota recently suggested to me that they didn’t think Michele Bachmann was going to run for reelection and I dismissed the idea out of hand. Silly me. She’s now announced that she is not going to run in 2014 after all.

Idaho Sheriff Isn’t Too Bright

I’m sure this will come as a huge shock to you, but it’s pretty easy to get elected as a county sheriff while being a complete moron. Case in point, Sheriff Ben Wolfinger of Kootenai County, Idaho, who says he’s dropping his agency’s sponsorship of a Boy Scout troop because the group is now “promoting” …

SCOTUS Gets One Right on Due Process

The Supreme Court got one right on a criminal justice and due process issue, which is always cause for celebration. And it’s a case from Michigan, McQuiggin v. Perkins, which involves a murder conviction for someone who may well be innocent. Floyd Perkins says he is innocent and he has affidavits from several of the …

Wiles: Damn Commies Are Ripping Our Hearts Out

Rick Wiles of TruNews is upset. Very upset. You see, the Boy Scouts letting gay teens join is not, to him, just a matter of disobeying God. Oh no. It’s the “Marxist-Communists” who have taken over the country “ripping the heart out of the American people.”

Beck Wonders Why He’s Called a Conspiracy Theorist

On a show last week, Glenn Beck went on quite a tirade about the media making a “concentrated effort” to label him a conspiracy theorist. And it’s apparently all Cass Sunstein’s fault. Cass Sunstein? The Harvard law professor? Yep. Hey Glenn, maybe people call you a conspiracy theorist because that’s what you are and it’s …

Perry: BSA Will Answer to God

As the right wing continues to throw a temper tantrum over the Boy Scouts of America making a small, tenuous and incomplete step toward equality, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, an Eagle Scout himself, told the FRC’s Tony Perkins that the board members who voted for the new policy will have to answer to God.

Republican Elders Speaking Out

As the Republican party struggles to handle the well-documented demographic and ideological problems that are making their electoral lives difficult, several elder statesmen (and women) of the GOP are starting to speak out. I’m sure you saw Bob Dole’s comments last week about how neither he nor Ronald Reagan would be welcome in today’s party.

Rename Military Bases? Absolutely

Over the Memorial Day weekend, Jamie Malanowski raised an issue I’d never thought about in a New York Times op-ed piece arguing that military bases named after Confederate leaders should be renamed. And there are a whole bunch of them other than the obvious one, Fort Lee.

Tantaros: Against Violent Rhetoric. By Others.

You may have seen last week when Andrea Tantaros, a far-right radio talk show host and Fox News contributor, told her listeners that if they ran into any Obama supporters that day, “Do me a favor — punch them in the face.” Here’s the full quote:

Another Terrible School Assembly

More and more schools seem to be bringing in speakers to do assemblies who are controversial, to say the least, especially Christian right types that give the full wingnut presentation on abstinence, abortion and sexual freedom. The latest is a school in Nashville, which brought in speakers from a religious right group called Decisions, Choices …

OMG! Obama Didn’t Salute a Marine!

From the same unhinged hysterics who brought you “Obama is a Muslim atheist terrorist traitor for having a Marine hold an umbrella for him” (but not all the Republican presidents who did the same thing, of course), gaze in wonder as the wingnuts throw a hissy fit over the president not saluting a Marine when …

Jackson’s Latest Explanation

Bishop E.W. Jackson, preacher turned candidate for the lt. governor’s officer in Virginia, is still trying to find a way to make his long record of batshit crazy statements go away so they don’t hurt his and Ken Cuccinelli’s campaign to win the state house. After saying initially that he had nothing to apologize for, …

Will State Marriage Equality Laws Affect SCOTUS?

AP has a story speculating on whether the rapid advance of pro-marriage equality cases in several states over the last few months will influence the result of either the Prop 8 case or the DOMA case that the Supreme Court are considering right now, with a ruling expected in about a month.

Massie Calls For Boycott of the Military

For the second time that I know of in my lifetime, a prominent conservative is calling for his fellow right wingers to not join the military and to refuse to re-enlist if they’re already in. Why? Because the military no longer discriminates against gay people.
