E.W. Jackson: Vote for Me is a Vote for God

The new Republican nominee for lt. governor in Virginia is a serious nutball. Here’s a video of a message he sent to Virginia churches when he was running for the senate, telling them that a vote for him is a vote “for the glory of God.” Here’s a partial transcript:

“This is an emergency, a critical point in American history. Continuing down the path we are on will result in escalating persecution of Christianity, but even worse, risk losing the favor of God on our country, which would be an unimaginable horror. I am asking Christians to unite on the biblical principles which founded our country and help me take those principles to the United States Senate. Those who understand the history of our country know the vital role the church played not only in the establishment of hospitals, colleges, and a host of other charitable organizations, but in the revolution which established this great nation. If Christians do not rise up, the future of our country is bleak. I ask you to go to the polls on June 12 and cast a vote for the glory of God. I’m not a perfect man, but I love the Lord, and I love this country, and I will always be grateful that He has saved me and gave me citizenship to the most free and prosperous nation in history. I will fight to see to it that it stays that way. As a brother in Christ, I ask for your prayers, your support, and for your vote on June 12 in the Republican primary.…”

Sounds like a perfect fit to run with Ken Cuccinelli. They’re the modern day Blues Brothers — they’re on a mission from God.

Well, they’ve pretty much been implying this exact thing if not outright saying it for decades, haven’t they? He’s just jumping on the Jesus bandwagon.
He’ll probably be caught in either a financial or sexual scandal, eventually. That bandwagon is much more fun I guess.

Why wouldn’t a vote for Jackson be a vote for Jackson? And if a vote for Jackson is a vote for God, doesn’t that mean either Jackson or God is committing voter fraud? Is God even registered as a candidate and if so, why isn’t He on the ballot? Does God meet the citizenship requirements to hold the office of lieutenant governor? Or maybe Jackson is claiming that he is God, or at least God’s glory.

My apologies, but there is something about dealing with Talibangelicals that always disrupts my cognitive abilities.

Of course not! Everyone knows that God is British.

The frightening thing about this asshole is that he is a graduate of Harvard Law School. Is there something in the water up there in Cambridge?

Correction: Jackson is a candidate for Lieutenant Governor.

Even granting him all the facts (which is a stretch, because he’s actually wrong on every one) that’s awfully arrogant, isn’t it?

Right-handed people played a vital role in the revolution which established this great nation. We must defend traditional handedness. Help fight against the escalating persecution of right-handed people. Vote for me.

If Christians do not rise up, the future of our country is bleak.

Christians rose up in 12th Century Europe and that turned out pretty well.

    [Don't mention the Inquisitions]

Jason Richwine also did his doctoral thesis, the one that was too racist even for the Heritage Institute, at Harvard.

My opinion of that institution continues to dwindle.

We can only hope that this concentration of hard right-wing ideology and crazy will lead even Virginian voters to reject the Republicans in 2014, and that the coattail effects will reduce the number of Republican congresscritters as well.

Someone needs to tell Jackson how well Jesus’ choices for POTUS went last year – Jesus can’t pick a winner to save his life.

“….colleges, hospitals, and a host of other charitable organizations…”

    Colleges are “charitable organizations?”

“He…gave me citizenship to the most free and prosperous nation is history.”

What? Your friggin’ PARENTS were responsible for you being an American citizen, not God. This makes absolutely no sense at all.
