No Steve King in Iowa Senate Race

Rep. Steve King, the prom king of Wingnuttia High School (Michele Bachmann is prom queen, of course) has announced that he will not run for Sen. Tom Harkin’s open seat in 2014. And of course, he’s doing it purely for noble reasons, as he announced on Twitter:

I will not run for Senate in 2014. A Senate race takes me out of urgent battles in Congress that can’t wait until 2015. Many thanks to all.

“This week, I made a simple device to put toothpaste back in the tube But a device to put the Leftist genie back in the bottle is not so simple,” he said in a statement.

I’m sure this had nothing to do with internal polling showing that he wouldn’t do very well in the race. So who does that leave? A number of prominent Republicans have said they don’t plan to run. But whackjob right wing radio show host Steve Deace has said that if King chose not to run, he might jump into the race. That would be a whole lot of fun.

Democratic opposition will almost certainly be Bruce Braley, who’s currently my representative. Swati Dandekar, who’s a former state senator and current on the state utilities board, will probably get his seat. (Republicans have little chance getting Braley’s district). She’s a likely national run in a few years.

And of course the device used to put wingnuts like Steve King back where they came from is known as a douche nozzle.

Ummm .. yeah. Like the close floor fight over the 45th bill to repeal Obamacare.

I got better lame excuses when I was turned down for dates in high school.

I think the device you’re thinking of, Stace, is an enema nozzle. There’s no way these jackasses came from a vagina.

What the hell is up with the toothpaste comment?

Because otherwise his comment would sound halfway sane, if disingenuous. He has a reputation to uphold, after all.

Meanwhile, S.C. voters have once again demonstrated their hypocrisy in electing Mark “Trail trash” Sanford”
    to the U.S. Congress.

What the hell is up with the toothpaste comment?

This was an almost-trope of a long time ago as something that couldn’t be undone.
