Tamerlan Tsarnaev: Alex Jones Fan

Fans of irony will appreciate the AP report that says Tamerlan Tsarnaev was a big fan of InfoWars, the conspiracy website owned by Alex Jones, who claims that the Boston Marathon bombings weren’t carried out by Tsarnaev but by Navy SEALs who are part of the giant global conspiracy that is also responsible for…well, everything.

Tamerlan took an interest in Infowars, a conspiracy theory website. Khozhugov said Tamerlan was interested in finding a copy of the book “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion,” the classic anti-Semitic hoax, first published in Russia in 1903, that claims a Jewish plot to take over the world.

“He never said he hated America or he hated the Jews,” Khozhugov said. “But he was fairly aggressive toward the policies of the U.S. toward countries with Muslim populations. He disliked the wars.”

This also made me chuckle:

Ammon said Tamerlan described the Bible as a “cheap copy” of the Quran, used to justify wars with other countries.

Ah yes, the first “cheap copy” in history to be written hundreds of years before the book it supposedly copied.

Maybe Alex Jones will volunteer to testify for the defense. He could walk the jury through all of his “evidence” of a false flag operation.

It is a common belief among many Muslim’s that the Quran is eternal along with God. So that the belief that the Bible is a corruption of the eternal Quran flows from that belief. In fact it is also a common Muslim belief that the Bible was doctored and distorted deliberately to conflict with the eternal Quran by those influenced by Satan.

If I were a Navy SEAL. I would be highly insulted at the idea that I would carry out such a bungled bombing operation.

They also claim everyone is born Moslem. And then the parents intervene and brainwash the kids in false religions.

    Xians have a similar belief.

The two religions have attempted to solve the competing claims by fighting a series of wars over about a millennia that killed millions. Without success.

It is indeed. Muslims commonly believe a lot of stupid shit. I guess when you put it up against flying horses, global floods, angels, and djinns, a little a-historical belief about divine but noisy transmission channels starts to seem a bit less crazy in comparison.

You’re right that it is worth pointing out that this isn’t necessarily an idiosyncrasy of Tamerlan’s, but it’s still pretty stupid, and probably merits mockery all the more because of its commonality.

As for the Alex Jones thing, I wonder if his interest was related to the personality traits that caused his uncle Ruslan to describe him as a “loser”.

Are you sure about this? From what I’ve heard the Muslim view is indeed that the default for humans is that absent outside influences they would naturally grow up good Muslims and eventually go to heaven. But the Christian view is that the default is original sin, absent outside influences they would naturally grow up to be evil and eventually go to hell.

    Yes.

Just ask jesus into your heart and you will get an answer and immediately be a xian. Or read the bible, a magic book that converts people to xians.

Xianity is the One True Religion. Or rather there are 42,000 One True Xian Cults. It then follows, that all other religions and/or xian cults are false and it is the parent’s fault for brainwashing their kids in false beliefs.

They don’t phrase it exactly the same as Moslems but the belief is the same. It is just another way of claiming One True Religioness.

While pople are looking for possible explanations for Tsarnaev’s behavior, I hope his coroner looks for evidence of brain damage from all those boxing matches and martial arts classes.

Insult or not, we should all be very, very glad that Navy Seals did not plant those bombs…..

    A precognitive false-flag propaganda operation?

Wow, maybe it’s Infowars that’s eternal.

You guys are missing the obvious. If the Navy SEALs were going to plant a bomb and blame it on a patsy, an Alex Jones fan would be the perfect candidate. Deflect suspicion from themselves and discredit the person most likely to uncover the Truth all in one fell swoop. SEALs are nothing if not efficient.

  13. Chiroptera says

Why would they have used the SEALs to plant bombs? Wouldn’t they have just ordered a drone strike?
