Pratt: Liberals Loved the Boston Marathon Bombings

Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America, the pro-gun group far to the right of the NRA, went on the Stan Solomon radio show and they agreed that liberals were happy about the Boston Marathon bombings because it might give more power to the government. Because apparently they forgot that the Republicans voted almost unanimously for the Patriot Act, the FISA reauthorizations and every other aspect of the National Security State.

Larry Pratt, a fucking asshole, if ever there was one. Paranoid delusional, pissed off,. small-dicked white man whose penis compensators will never make him loved.

I have been told by a fair number of gunzloonz over the years that I will be SORRY when somebody invades my home and I don’t have a GUN to protect myself.

This idiot, Nate Bell (AR Lege. Moron) put a lovely tweet out there for the world to see:

I talk to people, every day, that have lots of guns. A fair %age of them are staunch defenders/boosters of the 2nd Amendment. Oddly they think that people like Pratt are totes Batshit KKKrazzeepants mofos, but can’t think of any way to keep them from being completely nuts AND armed to the teeth.

  2. Alverant:

I would have thought conservatives would have been happy about the bombings as it gave them an excuse to turn up the hate on other people and all it cost was a child, a woman, and a Chinese. (snark)

I’m truly startled by the number of people who say shit like this. It’s a close cousin of the whole “Obama hates America/liberals want to destroy America” meme Don’t people stop to consider what bad logic this involves? Even if I really did hate America, I still have to live here and believe it or not I don’t want to be blown up. A lot of conservatives equate exercising some degree of moderation in condemning Islam with coddling terrorists. It’s tiresome.

  5. StevoR : Free West Papua, free Tibet, let the Chagossians return!:

    Its tiresome sure.

    But that doesn’t really matter.

What does is – do they have any kind of point or / & is there any truth in that claim?

  6. StevoR : Free West Papua, free Tibet, let the Chagossians return!:

Note that the vast majority of serious modern terrorist attacks and terrorist groups worldwide are Islamist.

That isn’t bias, just objective reality. Fact not fiction or spin.

I bet I can name at least five and probably ten modern Islamist terrorist groups / attackers for every single current non-Islamist terrorist attacker / group.

Pretty sure most of you really can also do this if you choose to do so.

If Muslims don’t want to face that reality well, that’s their choice but they and we really know deep down that that’s totally the wrong choice. Better by far for them to face this reality square on and combat it. Same for the rest of us. Left, right or centre.

Just how loopy do you have to be to think Wayne LaPierre is soft on guns?

I’m amazed this guy can dress himself.

  8. edmundog:

StevoR, not only is that largely irrelevant to the topic, if you narrow it down to attacks in the US, it’s not even true. If you’re including stuff in the Middle East, you’re ignoring the vastly different political and economic motivators there, and that’s disingenuous.

  9. Chiroptera:

I thought conservatives love the Boston bombings because it can be used to defeat immigration reform?

See how easy that is, conservatives?

  10. dugglebogey:

There’s nothing more fun that listening to fucking asshole moralizers tell me what I’m actually thinking.

Besides, I would think gun nuts would love the bombings because it shows that guns aren’t the problem, pressure cookers are!

  11. D. C. Sessions:

I wish I could track down the cartoon of someone — maybe LaPierre — holding a large firearm and lovingly stroking its very explicitly phallic barrel.

Dang, another blockquote fail. The whole first part should be in the quote. I can haz edit function, pleeze?

I’m genuinely curious what you mean by ‘face that reality’, what actions do you want Muslims to take? Is it Muslim groups who should take those actions or every individual who considers themselves Muslim? If some Muslims do what you want and other don’t does that count as Muslims doing the right thing or not?

I don’t want to sound too critical but this looks an awful lot like one of my bugbears, thinking of people as groups instead of individuals. I know everyone including me does this, I even have some speculations on why, but I don’t like it.

  15. dingojack:

Stevo (#6) – So all those attacks on US ‘abortion’ clinics*, their staff and patients are carried out by Islamists just pretending they’re Fundie Xtians? Good to know.

    * abortions are a tiny part of their efforts to improve women’s health. It would be similar to referring to a hospital as a ‘gall-stone removing facility’.

“:Note that the vast majority of serious modern terrorist attacks and terrorist groups worldwide are Islamist.”

    They don’t got some drones.

“Surgically targeted strikes” are done for EXACTLY the same reason that IPCB’s* were set off at the Boston Marathon. They kill and maim some people, they scare the fuck out of a lot of other people and they piss the targeted groups off so that they will (it is hoped) act irrationally and lash out at the WRONG people thus widening the conflict or increasing the angle of he societal nosedive into anarchy. Oh, I almost forgot; some folks are of the notion that blowing up your enemies will give them pause and cause them to reflect on their unreasonable actions. That the last happens, only when you kill ALL OF THE MOTHERFUCKERS, seems to be something that those with revenge on their minds can’t parse.

The U.S. A. has been terrorizing “backward savages”, both here and abroad, since about 1776.
