Monckton: It’s Just a Flesh Wound

Lord Christopher Monckton, the Grand Buffoon of Britain, has a message for Republicans: Buck up, little camper. In truth, you have liberals right where you want them. Doing his best impression of the black knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Monckton declares that “the left will soon be extinct.”

As the GOP rebuilds itself after two drubbings at the hands of a Kenyan communist whose policies are as bogus as his “birth certificate” and as bankrupt as his treasury, it should take courage and show it. For the left is finished.

Every one of the major policies espoused with such vicious venom by the international hard left is now proving to be a failure. Read the rap sheet of the fascism and Marxism in which Black Jesus has immersed himself since his name was Soetero, aka Soebarkah, and he was (as he still is) a citizen of Indonesia.

The rest is just a litany of horribles. Liberals are terrible because of Stalin and Pol Pot, global warming is a scam, blah blah blah. And then there’s this:

America needs a voice now. The silence of leading figures in the GOP on these and other spectacular failures of the left is culpable. If the GOP will not now stand up and speak out against the multiplying failures of the left’s most cherished policies, then it will be the GOP, even before the left, that will be consigned to the recyclable trash-stash of history.

The silence is culpable? Okay.

I’ve often wondered about the power behind the GOP. It all makes sense now.

    Wait, what was I saying?

I apologise on behalf of our island nation for letting this swivel-eyed loon out of our borders.

The GOP is being silent? So all those birther conspiracies, constant screeches of socialism and constant comparison to dictators never happened? Or maybe Monckton means that they literally need to be louder like call Obama a socialist through a megaphone?

I love that this guy is one of the major figureheads in the climate change “skeptic” movement. Really shows what a rational, evidence based bunch they are.

well he is a good example of what happens with way too much inbreeding.

You know he’s nutty when even the House of Lords has insisted that he is nothing to do with them.

This is satire from Monckton, isn’t it?

Not just that, but they’ve had to send him nasty letters threatening him with legal action if he doesn’t stop acting like he does have something to do with them. (Specifically trademark violation, for him using a letterhead emblem suspiciously similar to House of Lords heraldry.)

So, basically, Monkton’s advice is that the Republicans should be as looney as he is? They tried that in a couple of Senate races last year and look what it got them. When (marginally) calmer heads among the Republicans are trying to run away from the label “the party of stupid,” Monkton says they should floor the crazy pedal.

    Pesonally, I think it’s a wonderful plan.

    No, no, no

You’ve all got Monckton totally wrong. He is in fact Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest greastest comic creation.

Oh, but Viscount Monckton is Sir Lancelot’s hero.

@Andrew (Brilliant name by the way, the Grauniad one annoys me to no end)

    If only he were.

He doesn’t recognise the Lords reforms which cut the hereditary peerages, including his own. He actually wants the British legislature to go back to land-owning nobles passing their positions down from father to son (Never daughter.)

He strikes me as one of the saner and more compassionate and well-spoken members of English-speaking “conservatism” to my ear.

Can Conservative Jesus make a rock so big it would hide something the size of this, that could only exist beneath a rock?

You’d think someone who actually lived under actual socialist governments would know better than to call Obama a Communist.

In other news, here’s a news story about melting ice in the Andes that I’m sure that
Sir Lancelot will be along to inform us is nothing to be concerned bout.

You gotta watch out for that silence, man. Last year some silence robbed my apartment. The year before that it sprayed some graffiti on the subways walls and tenement halls.

The rest is, eh? Y’know I don’t think it could get any more horrid than the horrible drivel you quoted there from the start.

^ Argh. Blockquote fail sorry. First line is quote, the rest mine.

Lord Christopher Monckton, the Grand Buffoon of Britain, ..

Good title for him – don’t be surprised if he adopts it. he’s fond of things like that and it suits him perfectly!

Like others here its easy to imagine Monckton is a parody an actor playing an absurd character -and yet, sadly, there are people who take this clown seriously and he’s been given quite a lot of airplay and serious discussion rather unfathomably..

It’s not just people. Republicans in the U.S. Congress have invited this lunatic to at least one Congressional Committee hearing as their representative expert on the science of climate change. Mr. Monckton’s lunacy is representative of the denialist movement at the highest level of power, where that denialism is effectively monolithic within the Republican party, at least at the federal level.

Before he became a darling of the Tea Baggers and Allied Trades, Inc., Monckton’s claim to fame was his grandfather helped Edward VIII abdicate and was rewarded with a peerage.

As far as I am aware Monckton is only tolerated in the USA…seems the Brits regard him as a rather sad and lightweight bit of under achieved aristocracy, more to be pitied then actually listened to, most just glaze over when he is out and about Blighty!.
Dude is seriously damaged goods, but the religiously deluded have taken to him, no surprises there, taste and wisdom has never been their strong-point.

Although there are Global warming nee sayers in Blighty they tend to steer a wide course to avoid him, they have more then enough trouble trying to keep a straight face with Jonathon Porritt, a well meaning berk, but a berk nonetheless!

Unfortunately our current Prime Minister in waiting in Australia is very fond of Monckton, and he it seems he’s over here every six months or so at the invitation of the ultra rich aka Gina Rinehart. Australia is going to get 10 more years of climate denial policies come September’s election. Climate change denial is the default position here with the Murdoch press and commercial radio talk back.

This british buffon is(? was?) also the UKIP’s shadow Minister for Science.
(The UKIP is one of several crypto-facist xenophobic political parties in the UK.)

Oh FFS… This guy is a national fucking embarrassment. America, I am so sorry. You’d think it was enough that we gave you Piers Morgan, but no…
