Robertson: Uneducated People Get More Miracles

Pat Robertson was asked by a viewer why miracles happen so often in Africa (they do?) but they don’t seem to happen in America. His answer: Americans go to college and believe in evolution, but people overseas are “simple” which is “what God’s looking for” and “that’s why they have miracles.”

    God likes dumb people!
Except you, of course, he loves you smart and attractive viewers.
Give me Him more of your smart, attractive money!

Same idea, different phrasing, similar moronic source.

“I’ll tell you why [religion is] not a scam, in my opinion,” . “Tide goes in, tide goes out. Never a mis-communication. You can’t explain that. You can’t explain why the tide goes in.”

Conclusion: if god loves you, you must be dumb.

Think about that, Pat. Think hard. As hard as you can. Because – god loves you.

Oh man, he totally gets it. He’s basically saying that you can’t be skeptical and believe in God. It’s what we’ve been saying THIS WHOLE TIME!

people overseas are “simple” which is “what God’s looking for”

Nonetheless, god sure seems to have found quite a few of them here in the US.

You know, I’m trying to determine if that’s more insulting to educated Americans or poor Africans. I know he’s trying to insult educated Americans more, but I’m not sure of the outcome.

Gee, I wish I was less educated so I could have my very own miracle too!

Maybe if I get lobotomized or maybe just brain damaged it would help me believe in the power of almighty god…

    Or not.

Being scientifically minded means knowing something about how you can be deceived, including your own capacity for self-deception. Naivete and gullibility aren’t virtues, Pat.

That depends on which side of the till you are standing on, Bronze Dog…

Crazy Uncle Pat loves Africa. Why else would he have sent them all those planes to bring his diamonds back loaded up with relief supplies?

My psychic mind-reading & medium skills also don’t work on skeptical educated people who ask awkward questions. Some people would claim that’s because I’m a con man fleecing people with too much trust, but I reckon it’s down to all the “bad vibes” people get from public school, college and the liberal media.

If only gawd could perform the miracle that lets Africans have enough to fucking eat and to not die from diseases the could be prevented with a $1 vaccination.

    Definitely Africans.

I don’t know anyone, African, religious or neither, who likes to be called “simple” to his/her face, whatever Pat might think.

“Simple” is just a condescending way to call someone a moron.

There are tons of claimed miracles in Africa — as well as claimed witches. Years ago on IRC some Christian from South America claimed that he had proof of God and sent us atheists over to a website with a couple of videos taken in Africa. A man was presumably raised from the dead. Dark, shaky scene. A large crowd of moaning people standing around some guy lying down; a priest or shaman saying a lot of oogedy-boogedy and waving his hands; man gets up; lots of cries of happiness. He was raised from the dead. You can watch it happen with your own eyes. You see it for yourself.

NOW do you believe??? What else do you demand, o skeptical ones?

If God wants simple-minded, trusting, childlike believers then why does God get so pissed off when people choose to follow false gods, false preachers, and false religions. They toddle after anything shiny, My Lord. Thou should knowest that.

I’m guessing Pat has experienced a lot of miracles.

    Who Knows?

Well, who would have thought that people who do not understand the world around them would see more miracles? I guess the only explanation would be God likes those people more.

The ‘dumb’ is indeed strong in this one!

Not sure his co-delusional’s are going to be to pleased that Pat has let the metaphorical cat out of the superstitious bag….

Being simple and uneducated apparently makes you ripe for jeebus drooling…fuck who would have thought that?
No wonder they are always trying to screw up education, it is the death knell of their brain fart!

I’d say the reports of the truly impressive “miracles” in Africa are best equated with the urban legends her in the US. I heard about plenty of miracles while i was living in Ethiopia, but they frequently involved a friend of a friend, or a distant relative, or AIDs being cured by holey water (the individual was also taking anti-retro viral drugs). The remaining “miracles” were the same nonsense one hears all the time from Christians in the US.

same thing in a lot of Indonesia, btw.

They burned a witch just last month*.

    *no joke, really really.

I guess that’s the only reason he hasn’t yet moved to Africa?

FYI. Pat has also brought into the whole “DHS is buying billions of bullets and tanks” conspiracy as well.

Ah yes, that county, Africa. Quite a homogenous population and climate there. I wonder if Pat’s 700 club would help contribute to building a bridge between the peaks of Kilimanjaro. I hear they have starving people ready to convert if we could just link the missionaries on the first peak with the villages on the second.
