Warren Throckmorton reports that the National Association for the Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) has lost its tax exempt status with the IRS after failing to file a Form 990 for the last three years. This is the group most responsible for all that “ex-gay” nonsense. Could this be the beginning of the end for the organization? We can only hope.

Oh come on, it’s completely impossible that NARTH is in financial trouble. If they are short on money, the only thing they would have to do is call upon the large number of happy, well-adjusted ex-gays who feel deeply grateful to that organization.
They could be easily contacted through Grindr.

The late Charles Socarides was one of the co-founders of NARTH and was adamant in his assertion that homosexuality was an acquired characteristic induced by parental mal-, mis-, or nonfeasance while raising their children. Therefore I found it quite delightful when his son Richard announced that he was gay and went to work as the Clinton administration’s liaison to the gay community. For some reason, Richard never felt compelled to avail himself of his father’s supposed skill in “reparative” therapy. NARTH and its collection of snake-oil merchants can’t go out of business too soon to suit me!

Umm, shouldn’t NARTH owe federal income taxes and penalties for those 3 years? Shouldn’t they be in a heap of trouble with The Man?
