I wrote recently about David Barton’s latest lie (well, probably not his latest; he seems to lie every time he opens his mouth), about an expert witness in Abington Township v Schempp. Hemant contacted Ellery Schempp, the plaintiff in that case, to get a reaction. And boy, what a reaction it was. Knowing what a nice guy Ellery is, he was clearly peeved about this:
Barton was familiar enough with the text that he must have read it — and then deliberately, consciously lied about it. Barton has built a lucrative career on making up false quotes from the Founding Fathers, trying desperately to “prove” that separation of church and state is a “myth” and that the USA is somehow a “Christian nation,” whatever that exactly means…
I like to point out that priests and preachers are not elected by the people; they take no oath to the Constitution, and rarely reveal any of their finances.
Barton rakes in millions, has the moral compass of a cockroach, and wants us to believe he has God’s direct email address.
I never thought the Genesis story made any sense, and I didn’t use to believe in talking snakes — but then Glenn Beck and David Barton came along.
Harsh, but dead on accurate.

You’ve got to be pretty low to steal a cockroach’s moral compass!! But that’s Barton. I mean, how else would he get one?

C’mon now.
Why are we insulting cockroaches by comparing them to David Barton?

Barton is a revolting, lying panderer. His income depends on lying. He hasn’t the moral courage to stop.
I’d wager a small amount that if he really lived in a christian nation, he hate it unless he was in charge.

Speaking a lying assholes, we should note that YEC Duane Gish, promoter of the infamous Gish gallop, departed this mortal coil 2 days ago.

I’ve been lucky enough to meet Ellery in person. He has a way with words, that’s for sure.

I have rugs that don’t lie as easily as Barton. Fortunately, there are no cockroaches here suspiciously lacking their moral compasses, so I know he hasn’t been here to steal anything.
