Youssef: Marriage Equality Destroys Civilization, Leads to Hell
Michael Youssef, an Egyptian-born Christian pastor in Atlanta, has a column in the Christian Post about England’s recent move toward marriage equality, which is supported by the conservative government. I’m sure you’ll be shocked to hear that he thinks allowing gay people to marry will destroy Western civilization and send us all to hell.
On February 5, Britain’s House of Commons voted in favor of legalizing gay marriage. The vote is extremely alarming. It could signal the beginning of the end for Western civilization as we know it…
The vote, which was 400-175, represented a major crack in the Conservative Party. More than half of its 303 members voted against or abstained from the measure. Prime Minister David Cameron may go down in history as the man who hammered the last nail in the Conservative Party coffin.
For now, the legislation has tried to appease the Church of England by exempting it. But that can be of little comfort to its faithful members and pastors. Unlike the U.S., where the government has no authority over the church, the Church of England’s tie to the British government is more than just a mere formality. The cannons of the church affect the government, and vice versa.
Sounds like a great reason to eliminate the government’s entanglement with the Anglican church, eh?
Every time Western civilization seems to reach the bottom, one discovers a new low even farther down the pit. If Western populations don’t wake up, before long they will find themselves all the way in the Lake of Fire with the devil laughing his head off.
Nah. But it made me laugh, at least. The sky is falling, the sky is falling!

It was quite amusing when the bill was proposed. The CofE said they didn’t want to perform SS marriages so they were legally prevented from doing so. Which they complained about. Then one of the muslim groups complained it was unfair to them that the law prevented the CofE from performing SSM, but that they had the option if they chose and they wanted it to be illegal for them as well.

Same sex marriage has been recognized in Canada for some 8 years, which country seems to be doing alright thank you very much.

Back in the good old days Britain had slaves, public executions, witch burnings, civil wars, extreme poverty and short life spans. By comparison, 21st century Britain is not a bad place to be.

Michael Youssef said same-gender marriage in the UK will destroy Western Civilization. Canada has had it for eight years and so have other western European countries. Youssef has a very narrow view of Western Civilization or an overinflated view of England. What ever shall he do when SGM is legal in the USA?

Well we can hope, but the truth is he’s more likely to go down as the man who resurrected the decaying corpse of Thatcherism by cutting links to a social conservatism that was loosing more votes than it gained.
The proposal actually does relatively little, Britain already has Civil Partnerships that are treated the same as marriage for purposes like inheritance, power of attorney and immigration so in many respects this a tidying up – getting rid of having two names for the same legal arrangement. The big change is that now same sex religious ceremonies will be recognised, which they weren’t before. Even then the law even goes out of its way to protect objectors by requiring a whole denomination to ‘opt in’ to performing same sex weddings before any of its priests can conduct one.

If being gay were a choice, like they say, I’d consider gaymarrying jusf for the heady sense of power that helping overthrow Western civilization would bring.

Racist bigotry has (at least officially) left the republican party platform after a long a difficult struggle, can’t they see forward to a time when bigotry vs. homosexuals will be seen in exactly the same light?
(Meaning; only done in secret and behind closed doors, of course.)
