Horowitz: Stop the ‘Witch Hunt’ of Bachmann

David Horowitz, who is genuinely nuttier than a fruitcake, has started a petition drive to counter efforts to have Michele Bachmann, who is equally nuts, taken off the intelligence committee. And he actually calls it, in a manner that would make Bryan Fischer proud, a “witch hunt.”

“In the long run, the battle that Michele Bachmann is waging on the House Intelligence Committee may be more important to the well-being and security of Americans than all the battles over budgets and debt ceilings combined.” — David Horowitz

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is under attack for voicing concern over critical national security issues that no other elected leader wants to acknowledge, and now her position on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence may be at stake. A radical group has presented Speaker Boehner with a petition bearing 178,000 signatures demanding the removal of Congresswoman Bachmann from the committee.

We must fight back.

America needs Michele Bachmann and her fearless leadership keeping watch over our interests at home and abroad, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence is the best place for her to fulfill this task. So please join the Freedom Center in demanding the Left stop its witch hunt against Congressman Bachmann by signing the counter petition.

And by “radical group” he means “people who can think clearly and aren’t demagogues,” a group he simply can’t understand. If our well-being and security as a country depends on Bachmann being on the intelligence committee, as Horowitz claims, we are well and truly fucked.

OK, I’m curious, but not curious enough to get out of the boat… What exactly are the “critical national security issues that no other elected leader wants to acknowledge”?

    Silly question.

Space Reptiles. It’s always the Space Reptiles!!!

Personally, I enjoy the irony of Michelle Bachmann being on the Intelligence Committee. Saying it could be used as a definition of oxymoron.

Michele Bachmann is the poster woman for fundie xian induced cognitive impairment.

She wasn’t dumb. Two degrees, one law, passed the bar. These days she shouldn’t cross the street without her minder.

As a good example of what toxic religion can do, her high visibility position is OK.

As many have pointed out, in several terms, Bachmann hasn’t done much. At one point she was hunting for “anti-Americans” in the US government. IIRC, she only found one and that was President Obama. She then went on to hunt for Moslems in the US government. She only found one of them too.

I suppose next she is going to go hunt for Democrats in the US government. Hopefully she will find more than one of those.

Horowitz is just begging to be spoofed in a parody of the “leave her alone!” video.

He said “fearless leadership”. I think he meant “leadless fearership” or even “shipless fearleader”.

These are the same people who put goldbugger Ron Paul in charge of their subcommittee on monetary policy. And, as Ed documented here a few months ago, that’s only the beginning of their persistent campaign to put the lunatics in charge of the asylum.

I think this says more about our (lack of) education standards and the minimal brainpower it actually takes to become a lawyer in the U.S. than an endorsement of her intelligence.

I agree, where I think the root cause is the lack of curriculum that explicitly teaches critical thinking skills on an on-going basis. I think the explicit development of such thinking skills, to the point they’re overtly considered when discussing ideas, also better develops one’s emotional intelligence. That consciously applied skill set should make people more immune to bad arguments and bad arguments less attractive in the public square to others.

In the Shermer/Benson food-fight we see this affliction of remedial thinking works equally well on the left just as it does on the right.

One of Bachmann’s degrees was from the Oral Roberts Diploma Mill, so that isn’t much of a testament to her brain power. There’s definitely a pattern in the repiblican committee assignments. They put Ron Paul, a man who has vowed to destroy the Federal Reserve, in charge of the committee that oversees it. They pack the Energy and Environment committee with people who want to destroy the environment. And they put Bachmann on the Intelligence committee because no one had done more to destroy intelligence.

That is more of a feature than a bug. Lawyers are advocates, not seekers after truth and justice. If a lawyer can convince a jury with an artfully crafted logical fallacy, she has still won the case.

Oh, I thought this was common knowledge. Michele Bachmann is the sponsor of the Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act. You know, if the government takes away our freedom of light bulb choice, then the terrorists have already won.

    Well if it’s a witch-hunt we’re starting, shouldn’t we be focusing on Christine O’Donnell?

New headline: David Horowitz calls Michele Bachmann a Witch.

News request: David Horowitz, please detail everything Michele Bachmann has done on the committee that increases America’s security. Can we have that by the end of this month?

“America needs Michele Bachmann and her fearless fearmongering leadership”

I made the correction for you.
