Bryan Fischer Award Nominee: Glenn Beck

The Bryan Fischer Award is given to those who engage in massive psychological projection and do I have a doozy this time. Glenn Beck is actually going after Alex Jones, calling him a crazy conspiracy theorist and claiming that his appearance on the Piers Morgan show was part of a conspiracy to make conservatives look bad.

Beck and his co-hosts actually called Alex Jones “psycho” because he sees “a conspiracy around every corner…and if you disagree with him, you don’t just disagree, you’re in on it, to him and his minions.” Beck talks about how people come up to him and tell him he should read someone on infowars.com and he tells them to “stay away from that site” because anything on that site is “most likely not true.” Beck further says that “you have to be careful of who you get your news from” because “their agenda makes a difference.” Oh, and he was only on the show to make conservatives look bad:

Want to know who the media wants to make the face of the pro-gun argument in America? Look no further than conspiratorial radio host Alex Jones, best known for his 9/11 Truther theories and his love of Charlie Sheen’s hernia. Jones is the man behind the petition to deport CNN host Piers Morgan for his views on gun control. Morgan invited Jones onto his show to debate the gun issue yesterday, and not surprisingly, Jones made a fool of himself, giving the left the perfect poster boy for their attempts to paint every logical conservative as an extremist nut job.

Seriously. This is from the guy who spends hours at his blackboard drawing conspiritorial connections between everyone and everything. This is the guy who thinks that empathy leads to the second coming of Adolf Hitler. This is the guy who walks around Manhattan and finds symbols everywhere to confirm his loopy theories about progressivism leading to communism and fascism. This is the guy who thinks George Soros and Saul Alinsky are behind every bad thing that has happened in the last 50 years. And he’s warning his credulous followers about Alex Jones. Wow.

Maybe Beck will eventually twist himself into such a tight knot that he just implodes.

    Hey, we can hope.

Please support the Conspiracy to Make Conservatives Look Bad’s campaign to deliver coals to Newcastle. Here is a testimonial from William Shakespeare:

“Therefore, to be possess’d with double pomp,
To guard a title that was rich before,
To gild refined gold, to paint the lily,
To throw a perfume on the violet,
To smooth the ice, or add another hue
Unto the rainbow, or with taper-light
To seek the beauteous eye of heaven to garnish,
    Is wasteful and ridiculous excess.”

  3. John Hinkle:

So presumably it’s a leftist conspiracy to plant crazy conspiracy theorists on TV, and TV crazy conspiracy theorist Glenn Beck exposed this conspiracy to plant crazy conspiracy theorists on TV?

  4. dingojack:

I think Glenny deserves an award of his very own. He’s worked hard for it, and he deserves it.
That level of projection is not the product of a mere man, a mortal man, but the product of some kind of super-duper man!
Any ideas about the name for such a coveted award?

No attempt needed, the premise stands on its own two/several feet and howls the point graphically and incessantly!
Given the ‘talent’ left available in the Rethuglian pigpen I would hazard that they will have not some little difficulty in assembling a motley crew for the next Rethuglian nomination race in three years.
Not long enough for folks to forget how barking the tea party is at this moment in time and not short enough to capitalize on the frothing hatred for Obama and the rawness of defeat when they thought they were chosen by jeebus to lead…turns out they were not!

And to add to their dilemma they have no wing left in the GOP to turn to for their saviour…they have isolated their supporters and themselves and made the Tea party a laughing stock into the bargain.
They have simply made themselves unelectable…if they had a brain between them they would indeed be extremely dangerous!

I wonder what the odds are that Alex Jones will claim Glen Beck is there to make conservatives look bad.

I also wonder just how prominent Alex Jones is in conservative circles. I mostly know him as an outrageous conspiracy nut that skeptics like to poke for fun.

  7. Gvlgeologist, FCD:

I love it when conservatives complain that conservatives, doing what has typified conservatives over the last decade plus, make conservatives look bad. Perhaps they have all earned the BF award…

Having said that, I will comment, as I have lately, that people in the upper echelons of the conservative movement know full well what they are doing. Beck doesn’t care that he’s being hypocritical. He’s doing it for the money.

  8. John Pieret:

I’m with Dingojack. This deserves its own award. Besides, if you give Beck The Bryan Fischer Award, you’d have to retire it after that performance.

Maybe it could be called The Uncommon Sense Award in “honor” of one of Beck’s books.

  9. andrewda:

Funny thing is, Jones claims Beck is no only a plant, but has been stealing his schtick…I mean ideas for years

I see what you did there.

Heh. Some of the best humor is unintentional.

    Elevation by nefarious comparison.

  13. Modusoperandi:

Look, there are only so many gold-bug and apocalypse preparedness companies, and Jones is splitting Beck’s take.

  14. raven:

I think Glenny deserves an award of his very own.

Glenn Beck is worth $60 million to $100 million bucks.

Let him buy his own award. There is big money in being a right wing christofascist loon.

Beck is just guarding his right flank. It’s hard to out-crazy Beck, one of the few people too crazy for Fox news. But Alex Jones can do it.

IIRC, one of Jones beliefs is that the ruling elites are really Grey Aliens. They are shapeshifters and can look human if they want to. For a while anyway.

Full Disclosure of Reptilian Bloodline Whom Are Still Ruling Us …
    misstilaomg. com /full-disclosure-of-reptilian-bloodline-whom-are-still…

7 Nov 2012 – FIND OUT WHO AMONG US ARE OF STILL REPTILIAN! …. we are still fighting to get let out light shine from corrupt government of Elites! … We stand behind you more than we will ever believe a spit Alex Jones ever discusses! … that there are and will continue to be many shades of grey – there IS much …

Someone else can find out who the Reptilian bloodlines are. I have Romney as one for sure. That cold, flat personality is a giveaway. Romney always looks like he is wondering how you would taste stir fried over rice with a nice Merlot.

  16. frankb:

I could only stand about a minute of two of Beck’s video, I was shouting too much, “If you don’t know how often Piers Morgan has his show, look it up!!” “If Piers Morgan is so insignificant why are you talking about him?” “Look who’s complaining about conspiracy nuts!!!”

I am related to some Becks in Oregon. I tremble at the implications.

  17. kantalope:

    logical conservative?

    hahahahahahahahaha ha

  18. macallan:

Beck just doesn’t like the competition.

  19. shouldbeworking:

So much for Beck’s unwavering faith in the free market. Perhaps he can be used as an exemplar of Right Wing Evolutionary theory: survival of the craziest?

  20. Zinc Avenger (Sarcasm Tags 3.0 Compliant):

Yeah, Alex Jones is No True Wingnut.

  21. WMDKitty (Always growing and learning):

“IIRC, one of Jones beliefs is that the ruling elites are really Grey Aliens. They are shapeshifters and can look human if they want to.”

Huh. I thought the shapeshifting ruling elites were the Reptilians. (I had housemates for a time that bought into this shit. Maybe I should have introduced them to the Silurians….)

  22. raven:

Huh. I thought the shapeshifting ruling elites were the Reptilians.

    Yeah, I think they are.

The Grey aliens are live birthers. The Reptilians lay eggs and are shapeshifters.

One source says the UN/USA world government has signed agreements to co-rule with three alien species. You will have to ask Alex Jones which three they are.

  23. tacitus:

IIRC, one of Jones beliefs is that the ruling elites are really Grey Aliens. They are shapeshifters and can look human if they want to. For a while anyway.

Nope — you’re confusing him with David Icke (sadly, a British representative for the Nutjob Hall of Fame).

Jones’s bad guys are just human beings — an international cabal of uber-wealthy and powerful international elites that are pulling the strings of national governments around the world for their own nefarious purposes. (c.f. the Bilderburgers, the CFR, NWO, etc.)

The wackiest parts of Jones’s thesis are that this bunch of elites are “pure evil” and love nothing more than to see innocent little children being raped and murdered at their own hand. According to Jones, they also want to kill 90% of the world’s population (engineered viruses), enslave the rest (FEMA concentration camps), and rule the world as absolute dictators.

The only truly sci-fi aspect of Jones’s delusions is that he believes that the elites are developing life extension technology which they will keep for their own exclusive use — I guess because a single lifetime of despotism and depravity is not enough keep the outrage going, or something.

  24. Modusoperandi:

tacitus “The only truly sci-fi aspect of Jones’s delusions is that he believes that the elites are developing life extension technology which they will keep for their own exclusive use…”
Sure, until Robobama creates FuturObamacare, loots from the multicenturians on Medicare to “pay” for it, and just gives that life extension technology to poor, urban (*wink, wink*) people!
