The Supreme Court on Monday released the schedule for oral argument on upcoming cases, including the two marriage equality cases. The court will hear argument on Hollingsworth v Perry, the case involving California’s Prop 8, on March 26, and United States v Windsor, the DOMA case, on March 27. Lyle Denniston at SCOTUSBlog notes that while the court did not explicitly say that the time for those arguments will be more than the usual one hour (30 minutes for each side, “the fact that each is to be heard alone will allow the argument time to be expanded, and that appears likely.”

How much time will the anti-equality side really need to say, “Gay sex is icky, lots of people agree, god is on our side, think of the children, and marriage has been one man/one woman forever, therefore it’s our moral obligation to uphold discrimination”? Oh, right, they need lots of time to cover up how their “arguments” are nothing more than ignorant, nonsensical, bigoted bullshit.

And the day after the oral arguments, there will be endless articles attempting to answer the question, “What the Hell did Justice X mean when he asked question Y?”

True, whheydt…which is a big part of why I’d so much prefer to be able to watch and hear it myself, as opposed to simply reading a transcript.
