Peter LaBarbera’s 2013 New Year’s Resolutions

Unhinged anti-gay bigot Peter LaBarbera kicks off the new year by offering a list of 20 resolutions for 2013. It’s basically an attempt to fire up the troops by urging them to keep doing the same stupid things they’ve always done, along with a few things they’ve never done and never will.

1) Get OFF the defense, and back on offense – (get rid of that false guilt and incapacitating ambivalence; YOU are defending Truth; homosexual activists are promoting immorality, self-deception and lies).

2) Follow God and not man (shore up your biblical beliefs) – do you fear God or the reaction of people?

3) “Question Authority”: Don’t trust elites – even “conservatives” — on the homosexual issue(e.g., Newt Gingrich’s recent capitulation urging a GOP accommodation on “marriage equality”). [See Numbers 9 and 12.]

4) Get back to the BEHAVIOR and its consequences (try Googling “MSM [men who have sex with men], CDC [the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention], HIV” or “MSM, CDC, Syphilis”…)

5) Get off the opponents’ playing field: it starts with restoring honest language in the debate. (e.g, counterfeit homosexual “marriage” is not equal to the real deal, so the “gay” term “Marriage Equality” is spurious).

6) Recognize, dismiss and counter homosexual activists’ lies and propaganda (e.g, defending morality is neither “hate” nor bigotry).

7) Understand that this debate is really about homosexuality, not just “defending marriage.”

8) [Corollary] Stay principled; take the pledge: I will NEVER say or do anything that affirms homosexual, bisexual or gender-confused (“transgender”) behavior as acceptable.

9) Don’t rely on the Republicans or put their agenda before God’s – but instead push them to LEAD and do what’s right (and you moral Democrats need to fight evil within your party). [See #3.]

10) Embrace and rally behind common sense; send political correctness packing (e.g., do transsexual men with fake breasts and real penises really belong in girls’ locker rooms?).

11) STOP assuming “gay” victories are inevitable and not reversible (and don’t succumb to the media’s intense pro-homosexual bias).

12) [Related to #3] Think for yourself and don’t rely on FOX News to defend the Truth on homosexuality (e.g., did you know that Bill O’Reilly has pretty much switched sides?).

13) Call out the liberal media and educational establishment on their routine pro-homosexual and anti-Christian bias.

14) Educate a libertarian – on the clear and present threat that all pro-LGBT laws (including legalized homosexual “marriage”) pose to civil liberties and religious freedom.

15) Educate a pro-lifer about the threat of the far-reaching homosexual-bisexual-transgender agenda (many pro-lifers are naive or ignorant about the homosexual agenda and its many parallels to their core concern).

16) Be a thoughtful, truly compassionate Christian (tough, godly love and friendship require that you uphold biblical sexual values and firmly guide your loved one away from embracing sinful, destructive — and changeable — behaviors).

17) Be a Happy Warrior and understand the big picture: defending Truth is VIRTUOUS, and besides: it’s not our truth, it’s God’s (and don’t play into our opponent’s stereotype of Christians as self-righteous, angry prudes).

18) Don’t be lazy: THINK!…then act (refuting “gay” myths, shibboleths and talking points is not rocket science).

19) Patiently engage a young person on the “H” issue: are they entitled to reinvent centuries of Judeo-Christian tradition and teaching on love, relationships, family, and marriage? (Answer: no, but we first need to understand the cultural zeitgeist through which they view the world — and the steady stream of LGBT misinformation they are imbibing — before we can respond to it).

20) Reserve your greatest outrage for those who affirm homosexuality in the name of God – i.e., religious “gay” advocates (“gay Christianity” is a sham and they must be held to a higher standard).

Let me translate all of that: “Continue to be hateful bigots making stupid arguments. But do it extra hard from now on.”

Can we apply 3 to 2?

In two of them (18 and 12) he is asking for people to think, this then nullifies pretty much the rest of them.

“and you moral Democrats need to fight evil within your party” – BOTH of you, dammit!!

(He forgot to type that last bit….)

The homophobes are trying to tear the principle of informed consent out of its central role in sexual ethics (consistent with their other business of being rape apologists) and discard love as being a subversive distraction to their implementation of a superficial, oversimplified one-size-fits-all reproductive strategy.

But, allegedly, we’re the immoral ones.

This whole anti-gay thing is dying of boredom. Or it should any way.

    1. Are there gay people on my road? Sure, it is a long road.

    2. Are they married?

Who knows? Who cares? It’s none of my business or my concern. I’ve got real things to worry about. Like the existence of people like Peter LaBarbarian.

A lot of fundie xianity these days seems to be nothing but babbling bigotry, mainly focused on gay people. Back in the old days, it was actually a real religion, not that that was much of an improvement.

It’s in quotation marks for a reason. It doesn’t mean question authority; it means believe what I tell you.

e.g., did you know that Bill O’Reilly has pretty much switched sides?

So Bill O’Reilly is gay now? I wonder who/what did it for him? Stewart? Colbert? That picture of Paul Ryan with his shirt off?

are they entitled to reinvent centuries of Judeo-Christian tradition and teaching on love, relationships, family, and marriage?

Well, we’ve reinvented* centuries of “Judeo”-Christian tradition and teaching on antisemitism, racism, slavery, segregation, inter-racial marriage, women’s sufferage, child abuse, and a host of other issues, why not marriage equality for LGBT people.

    * That is, society has been, in large part, reinvented on those issues. All too many conservative Xians would like to return to the “good ol’ days.”

    “biblical sexual values”

Does he really embrace ALL of the bible’s “sexual values”? (probably) UGH

Sure, people tell different versions of fairy tales all the time.

    And those would be . . . ?

Nobody is more entitled to change the world than the people who live here, and of them a young person is most entitled, because they have the longest to spend here.

Labarbara would privilege the feelings of the dead over the lives of the living.

    10) Embrace and rally behind common sense; send political correctness packing (e.g., do transsexual men with fake breasts and real penises really belong in girls’ locker rooms?).

Hey, I’m a trans woman and my breasts are quite real. I grew them myself with the help of HRT.

    13) Call out the liberal media and educational establishment on their routine pro-homosexual and anti-Christian bias.

Ok, I’ll admit to a anti-christian bias or more accurately a anti-religious bias. I’m not so much pro-homosexual as pro human rights even for wastes of protoplasm like La Barbera.

Poor prono Pete is starting to sound like a broken record. It’s just the same old schtick which has gotten really old now. Poor dears donations must be getting steadily smaller.

At first I didn’t understand the list. But then I copied and pasted it into a word doc. I made it all caps, changed the font to comic sans, and add some sparkling american flag gifs to the background. Then it made perfect sense.

And I maybe out of the loop when it comes to teenage issues, but since when has hydrogen become such an issue that I have to have a sit-down talk with my kid about the evils of having only 1 electron?

He omitted the resolution to go to more gay pride parades and make a total fool of himself. Porno Pete apparently has a real thing about the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco. Seems to enjoy proselytizing men in buttless chaps.

I’ll admit I don’t follow the, uh, sophisticated thought of people like this, but isn’t having them list trans* people sort of a victory? I mean, they can’t just call everyone “gay” anymore. New boogeypeople required!

I’m sure they’ve been fighting against the, ahem, “gender-confused” longer than I’m aware of, but again, I don’t follow these idiots regularly enough to say. Reading blogs like this one is how I avoid the necessity. :)

“Continue to be hateful bigots making stupid arguments. But do it extra hard from now on.”

I can’t do the former since I’m not a hateful bigot. The latter is my New Year’s resolution.

The “H” issue? Who calls it that?

John Pieret: “Well, we’ve reinvented* centuries of “Judeo”-Christian tradition and teaching on antisemitism, racism, slavery, segregation, inter-racial marriage, women’s sufferage, child abuse, and a host of other issues, why not marriage equality for LGBT people.”

I suspect homosexuality will be far harder for them to reinvent for those who take their religion or their so-called holy book seriously at least. Pro-equality churches don’t, on average, are not doing very well on the parking lot test. That is, their share of those who bother to show up for worship is not all that great.
As for race, there are passages in the Bible that can be be interpreted to be tolerant on that issue that could suddenly be emphasized when the old ones were suddenly ignored. But I don’t see any way to rationalize homosexuality with the Bible that is not blatant intellectual dishonesty. The shear disgust with homosexuality in the Bible is simply hard to miss. “Christians” who either don’t consider the Bible as the source of morals or don’t know that the Bible attacks homosexuality and don’t bother to show up on Sunday have for all practical purposes ceased to be Christians.

    John Hinkle

Out of all 20 resolutions, not one on mixed fiber clothing. Huh.

    6) Recognize, dismiss and counter homosexual activists’ lies and propaganda (e.g, defending morality is neither “hate” nor bigotry).

I’m trying to play this through in my mind…

Equality Activist: There is zero evidence that marriage equality will bring the wrath of God, let alone destroy the institution of marriage. Since your arguments have no substance, I can only conclude that you’re just a garden variety bigot.

Bigot: Pfft. I dismiss your conclusion with a dismissive wave of my hand.

    Equality Activist: <silence, waiting…>

Bigot: Oh all right! I’m NOT a bigot! God hates gays and so do I because, um, God hates them! I am the moral person here, dammit!

Equality Activist: You have both dismissed and countered my lies and propaganda with compelling arguments. I concede. You win. How do I go about becoming a moral Christian like you?

Bigot: You can start by coming to the gay parade with me this Sunday.
