Pat Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network is predictably jumping on the wingnut bandwagon, arguing that there is a vast conspiracy between liberals and Muslims to “destroy freedom, capitalism, democracy, American and Israel” because we just hate humanity so much. The equation of secularism and Islamism is beyond ridiculous.

If I wanted to conspire with a group of misogynists who strive to oppress gays, freeze elderly people to death in the winter, create a hellish theocracy based on a book of unspeakable cruelty that would kill everyone who is not like them and take the world back in time to the 1100s, I’d become a Republican.

The number of Moslems in the USA isn’t known too well. the US census has no religion questions.
It’s usually estimated at around 3 million.
Hard to imagine a somewhat hated minority of 3 million Moslems is going to do much to a nation of 315 million, most of whom are…xians. I suppose the fundies can add innumeracy to their list of virtures, the inability to count.

I have a coworker who is a shi’ite from southern Lebanon. She and I coincidently had family get-to-gethers at the same restaurant at adjoining tables right after Christmas.
My wife’s oldest brother was with us at the restaurant and he seems to have Fox Geezer Syndrome. He felt it necessary to mention the Black Panthers and thought that we needed to wait for another President for an economic recovery. My back was turned to him when I was chatting with my coworker for which I am glad. My wife had stern words for her brother when she thought he was criticizing my friend and her family. So the evidence is out there that liberals and muslims are in cahoots.

The fear of Muslims outbreeding christians comes from Europe, where
1. The Muslim minority is slightly bigger
2. Muslims are seen by the upper-class as the most dangerous fraction of the plebs, like the blacks and latino are in the US.
So in the end, this fear is merely the product of the European Upper-Class fearing that the plebs will outbreed and eventually overthrow them. The funny thing is to see american wingnuts who claim to hate everything coming from Europe ended importing in the US a very european cultural product.

Basically, they claimed that since Sharia law was patriarchist, it was advocated by men who despised women, therefore, these men could only love and respect other men, therefore Sharia was a gay conspiracy and Muhammad was probably a Gay Supremacists trying to subvert the virility of medieval christianity.
