Oh oh. There’s trouble in Birtherland. It looks like the birthers’ most famous (and craziest) lawyer, Orly Taitz, is not too happy with the Worldnutdaily, which is the leading birther website on the planet. Taitz expresses it with her usual coherence, and in all caps:
WHY WND IS REPORTING ON ONE CASE WITH ONE REGULAR VOTER AND NOT REPORTING ON ANY OF MY CASES, PARTICULARLY A CASE WITH PRESIDENTIAL ELECTORS AND PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES AS PLAINTIFFS SUING ELECTORAL COLLEGE? DO THEY REALLY WANT US TO WIN THIS BALLOT? WHAT IS THE INCENTIVE OF A MAGAZINE SUPPOSEDLY DEVOTED TO THIS BATTLE NOT TO REPORT ON THE CASES WITH THE STRONGEST STANDING?
And her followers think they know the answer. “Veritas” (is that you, Ellis Washington?) says:
They know with all certainty that Obama SHALL be ruled “INELIGIBLE” and they “want to write the book.”
They are hoping they do not have to share the glory, and then they can corner the market on the book and movie rights.
However, history will prove that you, Dr Orly, are the one to dot the “i’s” and cross the “t’s.”
Although they are not being very charitable in ignoring your cases, it seems to be a sign that they know that “success is near,” and they may want to “hog the limelight.”
And “Will” says:
ihv.. its called money.. they want obummer out but they want the credit… i have quit reading their BIASED site..
I DONT KNOW why they wont help you???? ohh wait i know… they would rather leave obammar in office than see someone else win… LOOKING FOR GLORY is what they are about.. ohh and about 7 or so million them and arpiao probably share
Pass the popcorn.

Will writes about WND:
Now that’s funny. Consider the challenge of being crazy and idiotic enough to attract this demographic, but in a nuanced manner so you don’t offend them. Mr. Farah’s got a tougher job than I previously assumed.

Yeah. Most definitely. Just like back in 2008 when McCain was declared president-elect at the last minute because Barack Obama was deemed ineligible because of blah, blah, blah. Right. (These people have a problem with the word “certainty” — and logic in general. And ALL CAPS is not an argument.)

I’m with Kevin, here. Taitz crossed the line from funny to horrifyingly pathetic some time ago.The poor woman is mentally ill, and since she won’t get treatment I’m actually glad she has this Birther nonsense to keep her busy and focused; otherwise she’d embrace an even worse conspiracy and become the next school shooter or something.

Good thing. Because one can’t spell the thing Taitz is crazier than — a shit-house rat* — without i’s and t’s.

It may have been addressed, but would the phrase ‘busting caps’ be appropriate here? i.e. “I didn’t think he’d have the brains to follow my impeccable logic so I busted caps on his ass.”

Jennifer: that’s precisely what I’m afraid of…not her specifically, but people who believe in the nonsense she espouses. This is where crazy people who can only “think” with a loaded gun are bred and developed.
It’s quite frightening. And not merely the “birther” nonsense. There is an enormous conspiracy theory subculture that seems to be dedicated to the proposition that if it can be proved with evidence, reason, and logic, then it must be false.
I don’t think we’ve even seen the knife’s edge of what’s coming in the very near future if these loons decide to do something other than just stockpile their semi-automatic weapons.

Funny how the Orly fanboys accuse WND of being iin it for the money and glory. I suspect the same accusation could be made against her, at least the glory part. 5 years ago none of us had ever heard of the woman. Now she’s a celeb. It may be in the world of cranks, but it’s still a world where tens of thousands or more hang on her every word. That has to be quite the ego boost.. I supsect it drives other conspiracy mongers like Alex Jones. Whether he actually believes the stuff he promotes or not it’s made him a lot of money, and made him much more widely kinown than if he’d been a more mainstream right wing talk host.

Seriously, can someone in a position to know (i.e. probably a lawyer him/herself) explain why her behavior isn’t grounds for disbarment?

As my ehthics professor in law school said, the surest way to get disbarred is to steal less than $100,000 from a client.
I suspect that Orly is not charging her clients for bringing these “lawsuits” (otherwise known as summary judgment exercises) … she keeps begging the delusional readers of blog for donations for things like printing costs and the like. She is doing this as a crusade. Even if her representation is incompetent, if it doesn’t cost anything, the bar association might not get involved. She is in much greater danger, especially in Federal courts, of being declared a “vexatious litigant,” which would put restrictions on her being able to file such suits.

it occurs to me that the scary thing about the Internet is not that every nutjob in the world has a forum — it’s that they can find other nutjobs to validate them.
