Pope Blesses Ugandan Sponsor of ‘Kill the Gays’ Bill

Rebecca Kadaga, the speaker of the Ugandan legislature, led a group of Ugandan pilgrims and politicians to the Vatican, where she was granted and audience with the Pope, who blessed her and dedicated a reading from the Bible to them. Strangely, it wasn’t Leviticus 18:22.

Pope Benedict XVI has given blessings to Uganda Parliament Speaker Rebecca Kadaga during a mass attended by thousands of pilgrims at the Vatican.

Kadaga who led a delegation of Ugandan legislators to the Vatican expressed delight at meeting the Pope and visiting St Peter’s Basilicca.

“I think this is a moment that cannot be repeated. We have been reading about him, hearing stories about St.Peter’s Basilica but now we are here physically.

“I think it is something that I will remember all my life. It’s a very great moment and I thank God for this opportunity,” she said minutes after meeting the Pope.

Praise the lord! And kill the gays!

As if we needed anymore proof the Catholic Church is the most evil organization on the planet.

Katherine, they like to remind us.

I don’t know much about Catholic rituals; is blessing someone meant to convey the Pope’s also blessing that person’s positions? Did the Pope even realize one of the people blessed is a sponsor of the Uganda proposal?

If these sodomites were just pedophiles, then everything would be fine and they would be forgiven. Now we have the church position on a sex act. Between consenting adults and you deserve death. If you rape a child then you can be forgiven. I am glad the Pope cleared that up for me. It is so hard to figure out without divine revelation.

    @Michael

You may be right. The Pope is often clueless about the world outside of the Vatican. He has however made other despicable views very public.

So Pope Ratzi has something in common with Santorum: they both look back on the days of the Inquisition with longing and nostalgia.

  7. Raging Bee:

d.c.wilson: That may be more true than you know. This Pope recently tried to justify the persecution of Galileo, using an ignorant and dishonest version of “relativity” to say that, relative to people on Earth, the Earth really did stand still at the center of the Universe; so that made it okay to punish Galileo for questioning the established concensus. I kid you not.

This man is pure authoritarian pond-scum, and he’s taking every opportunity possible to ensure that the most evil tendencies of his Church override the decency. His only objective seems to be to reestablish and enhance the Church’s “authority,” in all issues, regardless of the consequences. AFAICT, there really is no other explanation for the consistently dishonest and downright unhinged pronouncements we’ve been hearing from him since he was “elected.”

No. And they can bless anything. They bless people, houses, animals, anything. Once a priest complained to me that he was asked to attend a ceremony and bless a new flagpole, which he did.

It’s difficult to say what the Pope knows and doesn’t know about the outside world. His communication from the outside is extensively filtered, but I’m sure he reads newspapers, maybe online. If he knows about the law, it wouldn’t be unusual to bless her and also issue a clear public rebuke of the law.

Here’s the problem as I see it. There is a Catholic Church on the ground in Uganda. They have bishops. The question is: what have they said, because they surely know about the law.

I’m willing to bet hard money that one doesn’t get a papal meeting and blessing without the staff screening.

I wonder if there is a porn filter on the pope’s computer?

He uses an IPad, so it would be a pain even without the filter. But maybe his tech guy fixed him.

Indeed, Rebecca. A privilege that approximately none of your fellow countrymen and women will ever know. Please, go right on and consider yourself blessed for having gazed upon the fabled ruby slippers. Those who starve in your homeland, whether for food or homes or justice will just have to take your word for it about how wonderful the whole experience must have been.

I just can’t imagine how thrilled they will be when you tell them about it all. Perhaps a bit of papal smegma will have rubbed off on you and you will be hailed, even acclaimed and nominated for sainthood, by the masses as you regale them with the opulence and corpulence of the holy city. For certainly they will regard your sojourn to the holy of hollies as a true miracle. How fulfilled you must surely feel for having blessed your people so. How reassured and comforted they must all feel. Such a peace descends over the land. How grand you look, standing before them still bearing the fragrance of sacrifice and burnt offerings that so please the nostrils of that thing up there.

What I really mean is that you stink like any other asshole. Your problem is that you tell everyone else that it’s rosewater and expect them to agree and inhale deeply. Your only asset is that those who agree are scrambling to stick their own noses closer to your ass and they bear the guns and make the laws that create hell on earth. Way to go, asshole.

Well if anyone is in any doubt about the jeebus droolers boasting about loving the sinner but hating the sin, this latest blatant and obnoxious shenanigan should leave no one in any doubt…one of the major religions in the world are without a shred of doubt…Homophobic to the point of welcoming measures to physically eradicate them!

How anyone can be gay and Roman Catholic I will never know!
Talk about turkeys voting for Christmas!
