Farah’s YEC Irrationality

In the wake of Sen. Marco Rubio’s politically convenient but highly ignorant answer to a question about the age of the earth, Joseph Farah comes riding in on his hobby horse to defend young earth creationism. What he ends up doing, of course, is showing just how illogical he can be. He has two arguments, both of them nonsense. The first is a weak attempt to change the subject:

MI Republicans Push to Pass Anti-Sharia Law

With the current two year session of the Michigan state legislature set to expire at the end of the year, and with it all submitted bills, the state House is set to take up HB 4769, which would prohibit the use of foreign or Sharia law if its use would violate the rights of any party in the case.

Ann Coulter: Voice of Reason?

Every once in a while, something happens that is so shocking, so completely in opposition to everything you know about the world, that it’s quite unsettling. That’s how I feel after reading Ann Coulter’s latest column, in which she actually makes sense. If you can ignore her usual juvenile insults, she’s actually right when she argues against the claim that the Republicans lost because Romney just wasn’t conservative enough.

Russian Court Dismisses Madonna Lawsuit

You may remember that a few months ago an anti-gay group in Russia filed a lawsuit seeking millions of dollars in damages from Madonna after the singer made comments in favor of gay rights during a concert in that country. A Russian court has now dismissed that lawsuit after an apparently hilarious hearing:

Obama Confesses to Voter Fraud!

The Worldnutdaily is once again breathlessly reporting the bizarre ideas of Andrew Hodges, the “forensic profiler” who claims to be able to read Obama’s mind by looking “between the lines” of what he says. Hodges thinks Obama has unconsciously admitted to everything but the Kennedy assassination (I’m sure that’s next). And this time, he claims that Obama has admitted that he stole the election through voter fraud:

The Mythical ‘War on Men’

From our old friends at Fox News, who are fond of declaring that there is a war on everything from Christmas to religious freedom, while scoffing at the idea of the war on women, comes a column by Suzanne Venker declaring that there is a war on men. And those nasty, evil feminists are winning the war. The entire column would make for a useful exercise in spotting hasty generalizations from very little data, among other logical fallacies. In Venker’s world, all women and all men think exactly alike — except for those terrible feminists she seems to hate so much. To wit, the first two paragraphs:

FL GOP Insiders Admit Voter Suppression Efforts

The Palm Beach Post reports on several Republican insiders, including the former Republican governor of Florida, who are admitting what was obvious to anyone paying attention, that the GOP initiatives in that state on voting were designed to suppress the votes of poor and minority voters to help them win the election. One of them is Jim Greer, former chairman of the Florida Republican Party who is accused of stealing from the party and is involved in competing lawsuits, so perhaps he can be dismissed to some degree:

Klayman Loses Suit Over Park 51 Mosque

Looks like Larry Klayman, the worst lawyer in America not named Mat Staver, has lost another frivolous lawsuit. This time it’s a suit against the owner of the Park 51 Islamic Center, the infamous and misnamed Ground Zero Mosque, for “public and private nuisance, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, and assault.” You can see the full ruling here.
