Your Epic Wingnut Rant of the Week

Man, I’ve seen some incredibly delusional sermons in my day, but this one may take the cake. It’s from the Deliver Us From Evil conference in October. This is Steve Foss, senior pastor of Upper Room Church in Keller, Texas. Republic of Gilead spotted this and has a partial transcript. This is interspersed between momentary lapses into speaking in tongues, which makes it all the more hilarious. It’s all about the Nephilim, alleged human-angel hybrids that died in the great flood and then became demons, now infecting pop stars:

“The demons are always looking for bodies to get into, and what they want is to be worshipped … Even in the words that so many in the music industry and the entertainment industry have willfully chosen to submit themselves to these nephilim spirits … You know Madonna? She has druid priests in the recording studio, summoning spirits so she can sing her song. Now I got a question for you. If they’re summoning those spirits in order to perform, what do you think’s coming out through the music?”…

“We’ve been channeling the spirits of the enemy … because they want fame. They walk ultimately to be worshipped. It just isn’t natural. It ain’t natural for a whole generation to be going aaaaahhh over a kid named Bieber. Hello!? He don’t sing that good! He ain’t all that good-looking! … You got little girls passing out. It’s a worshipping spirit. Are you all hearing me? What they did with Michael Jackson. It is what the enemy ultimately wants. He wants to steal the worship of God. He wants to be worshipped.”

Oh, and the United Nations is going to invade and take over America:

“Don’t you think for one second the U.N. has any bit of good in it. There is nothing good in the United Nations. It is ruled and controlled by demonic forces that are trying to bring about a one world government system … Why do you think they hate Israel? And they hate Christians. Don’t you think one thing about it. You know, they just tried to pass a treaty and get America to sign a treaty that would literally make homeschooling illegal. And you could have foreign troops come in, foreign police forces and officials come in, and U.N. officials come in, and actually arrest American citizens on American soil. Right now there are five major treaties that are being passed right now that President Obama has said he will sign or try to get through the Congress in the lame duck session, no matter what happens in the election. One of them is going to put a tax on the Internet. They’re going to put a tax on American travel. Why? Because they want to redistribute the wealth. To take the money from America and put it overseas. One of them is going to majorly restrict guns in America. We’re going to submit it to the U.N.”

And of course, the gays:

“The gay agenda is so strong in America right now. It is coming at us right now, and I’m telling you in the name of Jesus, you have seen an unleashing. All of a sudden, it has turned that now, if you’re opposed to gay marriage, before, it was like, well, they thought it wasn’t fair and it wasn’t just. Now, all of a sudden, you’re hate-filled. Now, all of a sudden, you’re a bigot. Now, all of a sudden, they want to pass laws against this. Ever since the President of the United States opened his mouth and released the authority of that spirit and said ‘I support gay marriage’, all of a sudden, this thing has shifted suddenly. [Speaks in tongues] Aw, and there he goes again, off on President Obama. Nephilim.”

It’s truly an epic rant. Pop some popcorn and enjoy.

Well, that lays bare Foss’ authoritarianism right there, doesn’t it?

    Don’t think.

Relax, Steve, I think it’s safe to say you were always a bigot.

Possession by demons: bad; possession by the holy ghost: good.

These damaged jeebus droolers really require secure unit incarceration.

They must be so afraid of their own shadows even.
They are mentally incapable of walking and talking coherently.
That is severe brain stem trauma…and as for the cretins that buy every word, their grown up rights should be revoked until they…well grow up!

To a sizable fraction of the population the world is ruled not by physics and chemistry, but by angels and demons. Physics and chemistry are confusing. Angels and demons create nice stories.

    Ibis3, Let's burn some bridges

Justin Bieber? He’s as vocally Christian as we Canadians normally get.

I was mildly critical of Obama for being mild in his support of gay marriage (taking a while, ‘evolving’ on the matter, getting pushed by Biden etc) but I withdraw my complaint. If even that was enough to get demons out into more people this quack to go loopy publicly, it was good enough.

The demons are always looking for bodies to get into, and what they want is to be worshipped …

OMG! Herman Cain is a Nephilim!

Isn’t Madonna heavily into Qabbalah and all that sort of crap? No way does she have druidic priests helping her perform. Just sayin’.

I went through a period of serious bible study in college (as an ancient middle-eastern document–I was taking lots of archaeology courses). At the time I wondered if the Nephilim, which is sometimes translated as “giants” that we were not supposed to breed with, might have been Neanderthals, which are known to have lived in the middle east a few tens of thousands of years ago. I could imagine a father telling his daughter not to bring one home.

I think the US is pretty damn good at sending its money overseas without the help of the UN.

Because Israel alone has the power to stop a one-world government from being created?

…senior pastor of Upper Room Church…

Does this guy have any idea how amazingly pervy that sounds? What, did his church split off from the Green Door Church? And how close are they to the Walk-In Closet Church?

Oh, and speaking of epic wingnut rants, have you been following this fake-rebellion by the actor who plays the kid in “Two and a Half Men?” The “minister” behind that “conversion” is another amusing piece of work, especially when he says Justice Sotomayor is part of a Pagan cabal. His church is entirely Internet-based, and his background graphics are laughably silly.
