This is pretty darn cool. American Atheists has installed solar panels on the roof of their office in Cranford, New Jersey, which they say will be enough to provide 100% of their electricity. It happened because the family of George Watley donated money for that purpose. And I’m totally stealing this picture of Dave Silverman (aka Mr. Atheistpants) standing on the roof next to them:
This is really a great thing. Kudos to the Watley family and AA. And by the way, I finally got the chance to meet Teresa MacBain in person at Skepticon last weekend. Yes, the woman who beat me out for the job of PR director for American Atheists! She’s every bit as delightful as I knew she would be, and she’s doing a great job. I only wish I’d been able to hear her talk, and Amanda Knief’s too (she busted my chops about leaving before she spoke, and rightly so, but we really had to hit the road — as it was, we still got home at an entirely unreasonable hour). I got to give Amanda a back hug (she was carrying Sagan, her adorable dog) and a front hug, but no Christian side hug.
