Beck: America Deserves to Be Destroyed for Electing Obama

Glenn Beck’s crazy train keeps barreling down the tracks at breakneck pace. On his show the day before the election, he said that if America is so “dead inside” that we reelect Obama, we deserve to be destroyed by God.

If you look at history through a biblical world view, the last step before a nation is completely destroyed is they drive the righteous from among them. If this isn’t a sign of a group of people that will drive the righteous from among them, and that’s the last step before God’s wrath comes, I fear for our country and it is – it cannot be overstated, it cannot be called paranoid … If you are a God‑fearing person, hear me. Last call, America. Last call. Because the righteous will be driven from among them.

They are nasty, divisive and, I’m sorry, but there is no way to describe that quote from Valerie Jarrett other than evil. Warning: Saul Alinsky is just the beginning of these people.

But I believe in the American people. I believe that we are not too far gone. I believe that people can watch and see the difference. They can feel the difference. When you watch Barack Obama, you can just see he is angry. When you watch Mitt Romney, you can see he is not. We are not an angry nation. We don’t listen to demagogues like that. It doesn’t work. No matter how much power he has amassed, no matter how many friends in the media he has, Americans know. And if they reject it this time, if they’re so dead inside – that’s a possibility – if they’re so dead inside that they can no longer see the difference between good and evil, we have to be destroyed because we will be a remarkable evil on this planet.

Glenn Beck just called someone else a demagogue. I have no ability to parody that.

Yeah, Glenn, the US isn’t an angry nation. Just like your career isn’t based on being an angry white guy who plays on the prejudices and fears of other angry white guys.

  2. birgerjohansson says

    Been there, done that.
God removed his hand from USA before the
    -9/11 attacks
    -Hurricane Katrina
    -Current hurricane
-X number of other occasions I have forgotten.

I don’t think even Shiva has that many hands.

“we have to be destroyed because we will be a remarkable evil on this planet”

-Who do you call “we”, white man?

    USA is the new Numenor!

So, to sum it up: Obama’s angry. So is God. And Glenn Beck is concerned for everyone else because we are only going to drive out the righteous.

When you watch Barack Obama, you can just see he is angry. When you watch Mitt Romney, you can see he is not.

Either an amazing pair of magical superdooper glasses or a very bad trip there…

  5. Tony–Queer Duck Overlord of The Bronze– says

I’m confused. If Romney won, then that would have meant God ordained that. Shouldn’t the same be true for President Obama?

  6. jba55 says

“If you look at history through a biblical world view”

Then you’ll be wrong, factually, about almost everything.

“it cannot be overstated, it cannot be called paranoid”

    I call bullshit.

  7. birgerjohansson says

If God is a cephalopod, he might have enough tentacles.
Also, useful for when America sinks into the sea.
The big question is, how many hands do N’yar-lath-hotep have?
And will the Deep Ones Lovecraft mentioned take over USA once it has sunk into the sea? Have they in fact been sponsoring Obama because they hope to provoke the inundation of USA? It is an original conspiracy theory, at least.

God is in charge and everything happens for a reason!!!

    Romney lost.

    Todd Akins lost.

    The Morlock in Ohio lost.

It’s clear once again. God hates fundie xians.

I’m sure god hates Glenn Beck. He makes him say silly things that always turn out wildly wrong. This is one of the few people so crazy they didn’t last on Fox news.

  9. Who Knows? says

Doesn’t it state clearly in the Bible that God has control over who our leaders are? Why is Glenn Beck going against the will of God?

  10. raven says

the last step before a nation is completely destroyed is they drive the righteous from among them.

You mean the scientists, educated, intelligent and normal people. Those are all the fundies To Hate list and they will persecute them any way they can.

Fundie xians and Mormons aren’t “righteous” whatever that means. They are just baggage being dragged along behind our society and holding it back.

PS Two of my long time friends just fled the USA two weeks ago. Dual citizen educated professionals and they had had enough after 30 years. It was partly the knuckle draggers but also partly our health care system. They were boomer age and starting to need a lot of health care for chronic conditions.

  11. F says

So, who was driven out of the country, exactly? If Glen Beck’s sort of “righteous” people were driven from the country, then… er… woot. I don’t believe for a minute that they have been, so no exclamation point there.

  12. raven says

Doesn’t it state clearly in the Bible that God has control over who our leaders are?

It says exactly that. The leaders are chosen by god. Including Obama.

Romans 13. It also says god wants you to pay your taxes.

    Romans 13:1-2
    New International Version (NIV)

    Submission to Governing Authorities
13 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.

The authorities that exist have been established by God.

2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

But don’t worry. The Hypocrisy Sacrament has that covered. This sacred duty covers everything.

  13. Larry says

    Romney lost.

    Todd Akins lost.

    The Morlock in Ohio lost.

And all 4 marriage equality propositions were positively decided as well as a marijuana legalization initiative.

There has to be deep agony and despair in fundy land today. Their sky fairy has forsaken them.

  14. Oyster Monkey says

Because the righteous will be driven from among them.

That’s a pretty oblique euphemism for outsourcing.

  15. birgerjohansson says

    This is fun.

Beck: America is so “dead inside”

Soo….America functions the same as a tree: The dead tissue in the center provides structural strength to hold up the living, growing tissue. And America now has more dead, structurally strong (cellulose-based?) stuff inside. Is that what they call making a “stronger union”?
    .
“We have to be destroyed” because we are growing up into the power lines overhead and tangle with them? Or are we blocking a lakeside view?

  16. frankb says

I am waiting for the intolerant self-righteous hypocrites to be driven away but they are still here. Glenn’s predictions of smiting can’t happen until they do. So we are safe for now.

  17. DaveL says

Why is it when Jeremiah Wright preaches “God Damn America”, he’s an anti-American radical, but when Glenn Beck says God should destroy America, he’s a patriot?

  18. says

I’m still waiting on the whole ‘water turning into blood’ and ‘three days of darkness’ thing. This whole ‘anger of god’ thing is just showing an amazing resemblance to natural weather patterns. Common, people, I was promised biblical wrath! Is a bit of salt really too much to ask of an omnipotent overlord?

  19. says

Why is it when Jeremiah Wright preaches “God Damn America”, he’s an anti-American radical, but when Glenn Beck says God should destroy America, he’s a patriot?

If this was about logic, God wouldn’t have made wingnuts.

  20. dingojack says

“… it cannot be overstated, it cannot be called paranoid … If you are a God‑fearing person, hear me. Last call, America. Last call. Because the righteous will be driven from among them“.

My dear Glenn (or would prefer Mr Bek?) – When the so-called ‘righteous’ are driven out of America don’t even think of coming here; as a former PM said: ‘we decide who comes to this country, and the circumstances in which they come’. (If you do come, I hope you enjoy the overcrowded and under-resourced facilities at our latest ‘beach-side resort’, despite being full of suspicious-looking brown people, – Manus Island).

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, are you sure you don’t mean the Mourdock in Indiana? Cause if so then you’re slurring my home state. Unless you’re referring to Josh Mandel, then my apologies. I know all us heartland states look the same and just blend into each other via I-70.

  22. raven says

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, are you sure you don’t mean the Mourdock in Indiana?

    Oops. Yes, I met Indiana.

My brain was sort of fuzzy this morning. Up late and celebrating a bit too much.

That one gave me a good laugh.

  24. Dennis N says

When you watch Barack Obama, you can just see he is angry.

I have a feeling that whenever Beck’s fans look at any black man, they see him as being angry.

  25. says

I’m confused. I thought God was going to cause Romney to be elected. Doesn’t that logically mean that God should be punishing Himself?

  26. tainthammer says

Thank you Raven @18 – posted that in response to this nonsense from a Facebook friend: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the highest realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground” Ephesians 6:12-13

  27. D. C. Sessions says

Fundie xians and Mormons aren’t “righteous” whatever that means.

    It’s short for “self-righteous.”

  28. Nick Gotts (formerly KG) says

I thought God was going to cause Romney to be elected. Doesn’t that logically mean that God should be punishing Himself? – Area Man

You think he doesn’t get off on that? When you send your own son (who is also yourself) to be flogged, nailed to a cross and finished off with a spear, you’ve got to be pretty hardcore BDSM.

  29. woodsong says

We don’t listen to demagogues like that. It doesn’t work. No matter how much power he has amassed, no matter how many friends in the media he has, Americans know.

On this, I have to agree with him–at least 50% of those of us who voted knew a demagogue when we saw one!

Unfortunately, I think Beck doesn’t agree with the rest of us on the definition of a demagogue. Hey, Glenn, which of the candidates tried to buy the election, again?

  30. Nemo says

To answer my own question: No, the Valerie Jarrett quote that Beck refers to is not in the video. The quoted text is an exact and complete transcript of the video.

This is gonna keep bugging me until I find out what it is.
