Christian, Muslim Fundies Agree on Sandy
I’ve already quoted a long list of Christian fundamentalists who say that Hurricane Sandy was God’s punishment on America for our many sins. Turns out the Muslim fundamentalists believe the same thing, which is hardly surprising; their critique of American culture has long mirrored that of the Christian right.
A Toronto website that calls itself the “newsmagazine of the Islamic movement” has described the hurricane battering the northeast U.S. a “divine slap.”
In an un-bylined post, Crescent International, which often promotes the worldview of Iran’s repressive regime, called Hurricane Sandy “a divine slap on the face of arrogance.” …
The post also lamented that Ohio women would be voting in next week’s U.S. presidential election, saying “the fact that Ohio housewives will determine who should occupy the White House to decide on such weighty issues as dealing with the Middle East, Iran’s nuclear program or U.S. relations with Russia is quite amusing, and revealing.
“This is what American democracy is all about. But for now, Hurricane Sandy, as a divine slap on the face of arrogance, is smashing its way through the Eastern Coast of the U.S.”
Funny, Vox Day, Jesse Lee Patterson and Janis Lane of the Tea Party all say the same thing.

Just out of curiosity, what about that massive earthquake that caused so much devastation in Iran a year or two ago?

Gregory,
Allah was pissed at Australia for some reason, and, as you know, Allah/God’s aim is a wee bit suspect.

Worse than that – one of those @#%! women did something that tempted a man…

Yeah, clearly, the big flood in Pakistan must have simply been a natural phenomenon, ’cause they’re so godly. Or maybe it was a test of faith. Or engineered by the CIA!

Guess those uppity women in Ohio need a “gift from God,” ifyouknowwhatimean…

The obvious conclusion is that they are all secret Muslims.

Tualha, clearly the flood was caused by tears of God for the females wanting to be edumacted and such.

Holy crap! Do they realize that if Ohio women will have an influence on the election, then their votes will actually help Obama win? That that Iran will probably be better off dealing with US President Obama than with President Romney?

What? It wasn’t God’s succesful attempt at turning Christie and Bloomberg into socialists?

If you put a fundie Christian in one room, and a fundie Muslim in another, had them communicate via IM (so that neither race, nor accent was a factor), and told them not to say anything specifically religious, you’d find that they would agree on almost everything. They would certainly see eye to eye on the degenerate nature of Western culture, on the role of women in society, on the need for submission to clerical authority (in direct opposition, I might add, to the direct teachings of both Sunni Islam and Protestant Christianity), etc… There’s less of a difference between a fundie muslim and a fundie christian than between a fundie christian and a so-called “moderate” christian.

And then they would attempt to kill each other, and you, if the curtain were drawn on the ruse, such would be their embarrassment at having been “fooled”.

Go Ohio women! I sure hope those with conservative leanings, esp. in the south of the state, are waking up to reality and will do what is in their best (real) interests.

So, Allah chose a female named storm to do his bidding?
Abby Normal:

And here I thought the storm was Allah way of showing his displeasure at MTV canceling Jersey Shore. “I’m going to watch something blow and fuck the entire Northeast. Snooki or Sandy, your choice America,” he seemed to be saying.

Also, not that it has anything to do with their right to vote, but most women aren’t actually housewives anymore. I know these fundies want to turn the clock back to before 1920, but it seems like they’re already living in the 50′s.

Hurricane names alternate sex and this Sandy was female, falling between Rafael and Tony.
Ragutis:

Come to think of it, wouldn’t it have been a lot more fitting for Allah to have chosen Raphael (Israfel) since that’s the archangel associated with judgement?

So, they think that Sandy was GOD’s gentle admonishment to the sinners in the Northeastern U.S.? What do they think of tornadoes, wild fires, hurricanes that strike below the Mason-Dickhead Line and such? Are they limiting themselves to equating only natural disasters or are they also equating manmade disasters like AGW and, um, the U.S. bombin’ the fuck out of them with GOD’s disapproval of his puppets?

Going by damage and deaths it looks like Allah had it in for Haiti. US casualties were just collateral damage, as they say.
Mind you, Allah seems to have had it in for Haiti for a couple of humdred years.

Yah… see here’s the deal. “Sandy” is what god calls his schlong. Hey — lots of supernatural deities name their schlongs. It’s not that uncommon really. The reason god’s schlong is named “Sandy” should be patently obvious. Father Sky and Mother Earth, right?

need for submission to clerical authority
bingo.
you can even leave out the “clerical”
authoritarians be authoritarian. Doesn’t matter where you are.
I’ve often heard the trope that there must be something to religion since there are such similarities in vastly different cultures.
no.
the similarities are driven by the fact that they are primarily populated by authoritarian personality types.
