Former and almost certainly future Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore, an unabashed theocrat, joins the long list of wingnuts who are convinced that anything bad that happens must be God’s punishment on us. Conveniently, that punishment is being meted out because of all the things Moore himself opposes, abortion and gay marriage.
My favorite part is where he says that “they” are “trying to take away that natural union of a man and a woman.” Really? Who wants to take that away? No one is trying to prevent straight people from getting married, for crying out loud. To be fair, though, he may be right; I can almost believe that God is punishing the people of Alabama by inflicting this authoritarian clown on them again. Actually, they’re going to do it to themselves by voting him in.

To be fair, Alabama is awfully tolerant of gay marriage and abortion.

Well I totally agree with Judge Moore. Satan is trying to destroy everything good, and he’s doing so through the evil known as the “Protestant Reformation.” So if God is angry at the US, isn’t it more likely because we protected heresy and blasphemy as the First Amendment to our governing document and allowed Satan-worshipers like Moore to hold power? That’s how the nuns and priests in my parish explained it, anyway.

Hurricanes earthquakes and tornadoes are punishment for the morons plastering the 10 Commandments on anything that stands still for more than 30 seconds.

almost certainly future Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore
I haven’t seen any polling, but I certainly hope not. AL Democrats kicked that local nutsack who won the primary off the ballot and replaced him with a real, honest-to-goodness respected judge, Robert Vance.
I know that my neighbors like to wear Jeebus on their sleeves, but let’s hope that they recognize the opportunity to vote for a non-crazy judge.

I liked the bit at the 47 second mark where he runs out of steam and completely loses his train of thought:
“God …… must be …… sad …… about this”
By the time he stuttered his way to the end of that sentence, he’d forgotten what it was god was sad about. The best he could come up with was:
“God has a controversy with the inhabitants of this land.”

“Roy Stewart Moore (born February 11, 1947) is an American jurist and Republican politician noted for his refusal, as the elected Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, to remove a monument of the Ten Commandments from the Alabama Judicial Building despite orders to do so from a federal judge. On November 13, 2003, the Alabama Court of the Judiciary unanimously removed Moore from his post as Chief Justice.” – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Moore
So what’s to stop the Alabama Court of the Judiciary removing him once more? After all, he’s still the same clown who ignored a federal judge back in the day.

“Moore: God is Punishing Us”
Should have been the quote at the beginning of my last comment. Apologies to Mr. Obama.

It’s funny how God is never punishing America for working on the Sabbath; eating shellfish or charging interest on loans.

As an Alabama resident I do have some good news. Judge Vance also makes fun of himself in his commercials. I hope that Mr. Moore does not get returned to office.

Nice to see that Alabama’s state disease has flared up again.
